I can say that I am not really good as solo top, however I am probably better than your usual Irelia(No, I don't have Irelia. So far I have played with Irelia(though not solo top), I made a decent score, I played Akali and enjoyed it, I do fairly well with Malphite but my eyes are focused on Jarvan IV... I have never played with Jarvan IV, and many people(including a big part of my friends) claim that Irelia is the best choice. But I doubt that she is a good choice for beginners.
TL, DR; Which one between Malphite, Jarvan IV, Irelia and Akali would be a good choice for a beginner? Other suggestions would also be appreciated.
You know, now that I think about it, I've always wanted to be a baker.

Go with Malphite, his kit is really straightforward and new player friendly :)

I would probably say Garen he is pretty strong and can teach you the basic mechanics of the lane well.

Check out my complete guide to top lane here.

i would def tell u to play Nasus as i see him as the best solo top choice, but if u want to play the ones in ur list i would tell u to go Akali cuz she is the the esiest one to play and can handle a 2v1 lane easily

Malphite. I bought him early and have recently started playing him again. He "rocks".

Irelia is a stronger top laner than Jarvan is, and I find her easier to play. Jarvan has two skill shots (Q and E) and no real easy farming skill. Irelia has one skill shot (her R, which gives four shots per cooldown) and a Q that will let you farm very easily if your last hitting is not the best. I find Akali and Jarvan to the more dangerous of the ones you've listed, Malphite probably being the safest.

Yorick is strong. You tend to build him in such a manner that casting your abilities often or taking damage from the enemy does not negatively impact you.

Vladimir is good too. He has longer range than Yorick does, meaning you won't have to get as close to your enemies, and so can avoid some of their damage. He is more difficult to play in that his abilities do cost health, and that can be dangerous if you're new.
