"Best" support?

Theres no "best" support. Every support has advantages and disadvantages.

The ones I like are:

Sona - its easy to heal (lazyness ftw) and AoE stun
Karma - high damage, incredible shield
Taric - best heal in game, stun

And why u said: "Let's assume Shen doesn't exist for the moment."? I dont really consider Shen a support cause everything he does is a tank job (like taunt and teleport to help allies).

If you want to know the best support, every support has to participate.

Either Sona or Janna. AoE supportive is better than just carry supportive.

Alistar is the best support.
He's just so ****ing awesome at everything.
I just mega carried 2 games as him with some moba ppl.

Seriously, Alistar ****s people up.

Well, I can only say that I rock as Sona. I turn any tide. Some weeks ago, I got 3 feeders (worst early game ever), but I started ksing (I was already killing, imagine kill + ks), and I got so fed that my team couldnt die even if they tryed.

Sona is my favourite at the moment... she can heal, speed up, stun (dance), buff people with auras and can pack quite a punch if they do a build for it

I think the most effective support would be either Sona or Taric, in one match my friend and I lost to a Sona...'twas a sad day. But her utility is amazing as well as Taric's stun.
