For the runes, I usually get mark and quint of desolation (armor pen), seals of flat armor and glyph of flat magic resist. Makes you a bit less squishy early-mid game, while giving you the ability to poke. For the items:

Doran's Blade-> Doran's Blade-> Boots-> either Berzerkers Greaves or Sorcerer's Shoes. If you intend to go physical dps, get Zerkers. If you intend to go magic dps (madred, wits end, malady etc.), get sorc shoes. After that, it depends on who you're agaisnt. I suggest going magic dps vs a tanky team, and going physical dps vs a more squishy-damage oriented team.
