I am playing basketball in a team since I was 8-9 and still can't see any direct corrolation between those two, lol. Ok except for the fact that once when were doing gymnastics at school I injured my neck and couldn't play basketball for half a month.[/quote]

You were able to choose from sports you like (also included things like swimming or table-tennis) and then the teachers selected the most voted things and put them together. Badminton and athletics appear twice in combination with something else because they were chosen that often.[/quote]

Also I am quite curious about the following: do normal schools in Germany have all these facilities( swimming pool, football fields, basketball courts etc.) or are you in an "Internat"(I do not know the english word, sry)?[/quote]

If the school isn't in town it has a football field most of the time; you can play basketball in the coliseum so you don't necessaryily need a court. Btw, the system isn't a general concept because every one of the 16 states in Germany has kinda different programs and they differ in the states themselves, too.[/quote]
