If you wanna go that route, the mods would have to ask everyone, because otherwise it would be unfair. There are peohably also a lot of lurkers that no one is aware of.
Also this has prohably been said before, but there are thousands of outdated guides and the mods would have to look through all of them.

Thanks to IPodPulse for this <3^
There's only a handful members that are actually active on this website. Clearly, it's going to be hard to go through thousands of guides. But, they could at least do a better job of taking care of the tournament section by erasing the leadboard and keeping it relevant every year.
Short Term Goals: Silver/Gold/Platinum || Long Term Goals: Diamond/Master/Challenger

There might be "a handful" active on the forums, but there are a lot more who are active on the site, even if it's only by updating their own guide and responding to questions they receive. Like mastrer said, giving forum members a better treatment (by asking them whether they would like their guide to be removed while others don't have a choice) isn't fair - in fact, it makes zero sense and will ultimately just drive potential guide authors away.
I could mention automatically archiving old guides (I'm not sure what the reasoning is on not doing it), but as I said in my previous post, I don't entirely see why it'd be a big problem for them to show up.
As far as the tournament leaderboard is concerned (pretty random for you to bring it up, but oh well), it would make sense to do that if MOBAFire had a competitive season and the top team at the end of it would receive a prize. I realise it says "2015 Leaderboard", so you have a point there, but I'd argue it'd be better to change that to simply say "Leaderboard" instead of updating it every year when there's no prizes attached, its more like a "Hall of Fame" for teams who have done well in our Community Cups than an actual ongoing competition. That's pretty off-topic though, so it might be best to continue that discussion via PM if you have any more questions/concerns.

Yep, you can unarchive a guide if you want. Archiving it still means it's there, just nobody can find it unless they have the link for it.

If I remember correctly there was a freshness system like that (now it's a bit less apparent, it's either "S5" or "FR" but I thought they changed that because people complained they had to update their guide with nothing just because otherwise their guides would drop while the guide was still relevant for the new patch.
In any case, S4 guides are always below S5 guides AFAIK, so it's not like terrible stuff happens.
I'm currently making a list of all S3 guides on the site and will send it your way as fast as I can, Lugi!

********'s a pretty good fertilizer
I honestly find some of the S4 guides still useful. More useful than the current up to date guides. One example would be
Pantheon, I don't like most of the new guides, but there are great ones for S4 and are still (relatively) useful.

I was pretty sure we did this already, actually in response to something like this before. I seem to remember a Morganna guide with Zhonya's ring in it cheating the freshness filter for a while.
Sig courtesy of GrandmasterD. Go get your own sig from them. :D

I'm guessing the simplest solution to this is a manual "downgrade the status of these champion's guides because he had a rework", but I did this thread in case someone has a better idea or this has already been done and I'm just not seeing it.
