I mean MOBA is a genre that DotA falls into - but it seems like people also use DotA as a genre reference as well. Is MOBA simply an alternative to DotA, i.e. an attempt to not plug the original game / advertise Valve's Dota 2? Or is there really some sort of hierarchy in the respective definitions?
[quote=Klausenheim]Is League of Legends a DotA game, or a MOBA game?

Based on fact that DotA was basically the first game of MOBA genre, people use to call MOBA games DotA.
Edit: Yea, before anybody tries to chop his balls off to correct me, I know Aeon of Strife etc., but DotA was first MOBA game played massively.
