ADC doesn't necessarily need barrier/cleanse although I wouldn't recommend not taking them. I've seen a few take 
Heal and use it to great effect in turning around an all-in, but it's damn rare (might be the same guy...need to look him up next time I run into him in ranked).
It also becomes OP as **** in teamfights, but longer CD and the fact that it's less effective HP than barrier (especially if you're ignited) is why I don't ever take it.
What? I'm fairly sure it does remove Impale. The only thing it doesn't stop is urgot swap and even then it removes the suppression, so if you're playing someone with any fast hard CC you can get yourself out of the swap.
