I am still experimenting with doran's start in mid ... does not seem all that better than the max sustain start eg: charm, ward, health and mana pots

OP what are you playing mid? who are you having trouble against?

how many game sample size are you talking about? it could be just variance ....

In the past week I've played 8 games in mid lane, and I have won 2 of those. most recently was a loss where I destroyed Lux as Anivia, but the team lost out in the end, because top lane lost big time.

Digging back a little farther it looks like I maintain similar percentages I normally run TF, Nidalee, or Anivia mid, with the occasional Ahri. I want to get back in their with Katarina though but either I'm too early in the pick order, or I'm not comfortable with taking her later on in the picks.

But I got other issues with my game I'm dealing with now.

8 game sample size is pretty small ... and as you have said in your example - losing a game does not necessarily mean you lost mid... but then again.. you clearly feel a little out of your groove to make this thread... any who

firstly TF is all about winning top and bot lane ... against similarly skilled oponents you wont win mid ... but your godly ganks should win the other lanes... if you gank well .. and top and bot lane cant use that to their advantage .. then gg..

nid is a weired one... i dont know how i feel about her in mid lane.. (i know there are some really good nids out there) but for the most part i find them extremely predictable and easy to beat with most of my mid champs...

i am not really good with Ahri or Anivia so ..someone else can comment

seeing as your pattern is apparent with a number of champs i would guess you maybe missing something more fundemental.... like warding, roaming, shoving lane when they are out of lane to make them miss gold and xp or maybe just not itemising correctly

i completely agree with you about early picking Katarina.. lot of champs can make her have a bad time in lane...

****ing relegated to Bronze III.....

****!

This last time I beat Brand as TF. First blood, Farming well. getting a good feel going. then team fights start. our jungle is jungling for some reason, and the team just doesn't know what to do. we rarely had all 5 of us together, but we weren't split pushing or anything like that. Yeah I'll own up to some bad decisions, but right now having lost 5 minutes ago at time of writing, I want to flip something.

It's stupid I know, but I can't help but be emotionally invested in **** like this. Sad as it is.... this is where I get most of my self worth.

Same problem here, Kazega. Relegated on Silver V because the team remained mid for nearly 15 minutes doing nothing but dodging, without even harrass or poke. I took down 2 towers trying to backdoor but 1 tower = at least 2 deaths. I had good cs but people loved to type and staying mid.

I'm not going to say I played perfectly. I made a few bad choices with the TF Ult and all, but what can I do when Bot lane is fed, and our top lane took CV/exhaust as AP Nid?

I don't think it's a matter of Summoner Spells. Clairvoyance can be a nice choice for a safe laning top: when you know that someone can come to gank top, you can check it without spending with wards. I know that wards are better, but it can be a viable choice. I think exhaust was there for the same reason: as CC in case of gank, and as CC to secure a kill.. Maybe she was just bad :D

CV is isn't a nice choice lol...

Anyways mid lane hasn't changed that much.
I'm assuming mistakes come from your misplays so here are some tips.

Guide EVERYTHING
Like literally if all your teammates are bad, don't think of what they did wrong but think of what you could've done perfectly.

I'm not sure what troubles you're having but here are some tips:

Take the initiative to start fights that you know you'll win.
Shove up mid and say you're ganking a side lane.
Be ready to countergank ANYTHING. Keep track of enemy positions. Did you waste your ult to only burn a summoner when you could've used it to get a kill? This is especially important for TF.
Pressure lanes together with your jungler to ensure kills.
Make sure your lane is controlled well and you know where the enemy mid laner is.
Roam and gank when your lane is pushed.
Make plays that you KNOW will go right even if your teammates are 5 year olds.
Pressure mid lane HARD. Ward one side bush and push like a MADMAN (Be ready to respond to ganks though).

If you're at bronze / silver and you're losing games there must be SOMETHING you could've done

There may be some technical reasons like "oh the meta changed" "oh i started the wrong items," but those are all small irrelevant changes that can easily be changed. Focus on your own gameplay and you'll improve a LOT.

There was this great motivational quote my friend said "You say you want something? Have you reached your goal? If you haven't, then you don't actually want it."

The Nidalee was pretty decent. but in the end my team made the most mistakes. I think it was mostly because we didn't really know what to do though. That's really the tough part of all this. despite having a Shen (support) we couldn't use the map to our advantage properly. We tried to team fight when we couldn't and no one but me really realized it. I can't split push on my own as TF because I am too squishy and can't escape reliably. our Nidalee didn't realize she was supposed to push and kept with the team and poked a them. Ezreal and Shen weren't in formation properly and caused us to fall back where we would have had an advantage. Shyvana built weird, and we didn't even have an Aegis of the Legion. Ezreal wasn't a blue build Ezreal, it was a standard ADC build against a Caitlyn so he was out classed easily...

I can nitpick at this all day, that's how bad it was...

goddammit I'm making this another "woe is me" thread...

It's okay to think like that but you need to realize that thinking as a team in solo queue won't help you improve.

You'll only realize what you could've done as a team, which is near impossible to manage in solo queue, ultimately slowing you down in process.

Builds are far less important than actual gameplay. That's why you see people winning while still building troll.

Try to gradually grow a sense of map control and game flow. Know when to push when to group when to split push and you'll eventually improve a lot.
