What happened to the role of the mage?

[/quote] But then again, my question ... is [[Ryze]] even a mage? I consider him as an AP Carry (caster-type). There's no doubt that a skilled or average Ryze can dominate every lane, top, bottom, or even mid. But Ryze cannot compare to other real "mages" though.[/quote]
