they really need to work on that...
was playing earlier against a leblanc, and a shen on my team used vorpal blade, she hit the 40% hp and the blade stayed on the real one.
back when i used to play custom games on wc3 there was some hero game and i had a spell that couldnt be used on mirror images, and the enemy had a hero who had a mirror image.
there was another one where your hero would grow larger with every level, but mirror images would remain the same size.

i tried something for fun...
mid against ashe, i attacked her and got dmged till 40% when my clone popped. i did a quick mini shuffle with my clone and tower dived the ashe from two sides of the lane, apparently the ashe was still able to somehow tell the real me.
but i still killed her due to the ohko combo of Q and R. that harass attempt turned out to be a kill, i lol'd.

well you can CONTROL it... its just that most people dont. depends on how good the leblanc player is. soon enough it will be way harder to tell the difference, in which case the IQ required will go up. I believe that IQ required has a direct relationship with the skill of the leblanc player. that is my scientific analysis.

TBH it's usefull if you use it... if you just let her stand there doing nothing it's obvious that she will look like a clone.
Also it's pretty awesome at high grass fights. You can get easily fooled by jugling there.
