I go to https://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/8-11-the-guardian-janna-support-284297

I'd like to comment under that guide, so I click Discussion

I type in a part of my comment and click Preview

Unfortunately, the only response I get is this:

Oddly clicking Preview under this very post does work

EDIT: OK I was able to actually post my comment ( https://www.mobafire.com/comment-link?comment_id=1138710 ) - but I still cannot use the Preview option.

Are you still getting this error when you try to Preview your comment on guide discussion pages? What browser are you using?

Do you use NoScript / uMatrix or some other selective script blocker? I had the same issue, some script I had to enable. I also block most cookies so could be that was the issue, not sure anymore.
