Yep, I've gotten a couple too. For what it's worth, you should be able to get rid of the notification if you get a new notification and then click Remove Notification. It should wipe out the ghost one as well.

I don't recall where the first one came from, i think it's from the mastery thread since i get activity notifications for that. Although i know that at least 2 of the original 3 were from @ mentions. I got another ghost notification from the mastery thread since there were a couple posts in it.

Just a random guess this, but might it have to do something with deleted messages? I remember that I got a mail a while ago about a question that has been answered, but after checking it I didn't see any additional answers (and maybe thats he thing leaving the ghost alert). Not that I know much about how the coding works but hey.
