Well just as an experiment I set up a channel on DALNet. I tried quakenet and efnet and their nick/chan services suck... If anyone has other suggestions let me know. In the mean time, you can join #mobafire (and #omekaprime) on dalnet :) Bit of an experiment at this point but we can see where things go from there.
Bit of a quick start guide for those that are unfamiliar... If we stick with DALNet and decide to "officially" support this I'll post a better guide but...
Just use mIRC for now. It's the simplest client. Download from http://www.mirc.com/
Run it and in the servers list choose any DALNet server, enter your preferred nickname, and connect.
After you've connected, join #mobafire (in the popup, or manually type "/join #mobafire" in the status window).
We can help you from there :)

Yeah there are a lot of alternatives to mIRC. Note also that mIRC isn't free but iirc it just nags you to buy it when you start it up, otherwise it is fully functional.
Just like WinRAR
Seems pretty cool. I think I'll be hanging around there for a while.
