https://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/a-glorious-guide-to-thresh-top-adc-supp-8-24-533118?revision

Hi,

I'm doing a major revision of my ADC Thresh guide for this month's contest. Would it be possible for an admin or someone else experianced with BB code/formatting to help fix the various spacing & formatting problems in my revision to the linked guide?

The revision isn't finished so there's missing information in several places. I'll fill that in tomorrow.

Thanks a lot,

I can help you if you encounter a bug or your BBCode is entirely messed up, but I don't really have time to help code your guide for you. I took a quick look and it seems like you have a good start already. Is there something specific you're trying to do but can't figure out how?
Thanks to Janitsu for the sig!

yeah I know I didn't phrase that well. Sorry about that. I wrote this post at like, 1 am so I was really tired. I fixed one of the formatting problems I had, in any case. What I need help with is three things:

The pros and cons section isn't lined up properly (i.e. 'pros' is a few lines below 'cons' when they should be lined up at eye level) and there's the random white square and circle - which I don't know how to get rid of (when I try, it completely screws up the formatting).

I want to keep the custom 'Glorious Guide to Thresh' img that I made but I want to get rid of the one that Mobafire adds for you. How do you do that?

the spacing is screwed up, especially for the section on utility (i.e. the text next to cosmic insight is squashed but not for biscuit delivery). This is a problem I have throughout the guide and fixing that would be hugely appreciated.

I understand if you don't have the time to help with all three of these issues, but they're the main ones I had when making revisions.

Thanks

I'll try to help a little bit
  1. So, for that you can solve it using a table instead of columns. The code should be something like this:

    Code:
    [table width=???] [tr] [td][center][color=#008000]pros[/color][/center][/td] [td][center][color=#008000]cons[/color][/center][/td] [/tr] [tr] [td][center][table][tr][td bgcolor=white padding=1 width=150][/td][/tr][/table][/center][/td] [td][center][table][tr][td bgcolor=white padding=1 width=150][/td][/tr][/table][/center][/td] [/tr] [tr] [td][center][color=#008000]bla bla bla[/color][/center][/td] [td][center][color=#008000]bla bla bla[/color][/center][/td] [/tr] [/table]

instead of ??? put the width the table should have, rn I don't know how big thresh's image is so I let you put the number. About the circle and the square... I'm confused on how they are there. I (or Psi) should look at the source code to see what exactly happens.
  2. For what I know you can't do it, surely Psi will give you the right answer.
  3. Again, the source code is always helpful, but I'll try my best. My best guess is a nextcol width problem; it seems that you didn't specified the width of the nextcols, so it gives you this formatting problem. You can use unspecified width nextcols when the paragraphs are more or less the same lenght and/or when they have enough space (like this) or you'll end up with strange column spacing (like this). The solution would be to specify the width of the columns or, like I said in the first point, use tables instead, what you prefer the most.

Hope it helps :^

For the Pros/Cons alignment, it's easier if you use tables as Chromuro said. For the cells containing the Pros and Cons, add "vertical-align=top" like this: [td width=250 vertical-align=top][/td] This will write the content of that cell from the top downward instead of being vertically centered. Columns are always vertically centered and you can't change their alignment like this.

For the white square and circle I'm not as sure, haven't seen it before. Looks like it might have to do with these white-border white-background tables you have near each of your titles. Are you trying to make a square or a circle, or are you trying to get rid of both?

Regarding the default guide header, you can't get rid of this at the moment but it's on our list to implement in the future for authors who want to use their own header at the top of the guide.

As Chromuro said, you'll need to set your column widths explicitly to make sure they have the same amount of space for the text. I took a quick look at that section and it looks like you have a set of two nested columns which doesn't seem necessary to me (unless I'm misunderstanding something). Something like the following should work:

[columns]
[nextcol width=25] (this is an empty column for spacing if you want it)
[nextcol width=80] (first icon and rune name goes here)
[nextcol width=300] (first rune description goes here)
[nextcol width=80] (second icon and rune name goes here)
[nextcol width=300] (second rune description goes here)
[/columns]

You might need to fiddle with the widths to get the spacing you want, but the idea is to explicitly set the widths so the text looks more uniform.
