I'm not sure if I particularly like it. I usually only go through the New builds when I'm really bored, or if it's a release day. And being unable to downvote those horrible builds that DO come out on the release day is annoying.
Sad part is, if votes are allowed the guides that just come out and get popular quickly for some reason just shoot high up in the ratings extremely quickly, while there are plenty more deserving guides.

I know B-Wong, and that's the problem... The whole reason that this was implemented. I just feel that it stops more negative votes than it does positive ones. That 1 guide is still going to stand out after it gets ~2 upvotes and is the highest rated for that champion. It just makes it so that when the guide does get up there it will have less negatives, and thus less of a chance of being de-throned, if you will.
I don't really like the idea. I generally try the top rated build within 7 days so it doesn't affect me much, but sometimes I like testing new ones.
I just think it's kind of stupid, since if a guide is bad people will downvote it. Well, generally.

I like the fact that it gives people less incentive to get out their guide ASAP and gives them a 4 day lee way to test their builds out and polish them up. I feel like it's better than guides coming out 30 min after a champ is released, like there is no way that guide had much thought put into it. Also if people wait until the 4 day timespan is up to release it, their builds will be closer to the top of the page when people can actually vote, and therefore more likely to be voted on.
I want to keep pushing people to put more thoughts into new champ guides, and I think this does it better than letting them vote from the first second the champ is put on mobafire. It also gives guide REVIEWERS and CRITIQUERS a chance to mull over the champ themselves, and not immediately downvote before they also play around with the champ. The feedback builders get from readers will be able to be implemented before voting starts too, making everyone's builds better.
Honestly I might even increase it to longer... but apparently people are already frustrated with the current system. >.>
Maybe we could do something like the scores for builds are hidden for 4 days or a week? This would let people vote but not make one guide shoot up above the others really fast.

Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!
i really like that idea mowen... because everyone just goes to the top rated build and not look around a little, that way people would have more incentive to look around.
although i think the build publisher should be able to see their vote.
i c wut u did there

I was thinking about it more, about how it would work with the c2vote system. I guess maybe the votes would appear as grey or something until the 4 days are up. We would still want the guidemaker to be able to see the comment tied to the vote so we need to display it.
Then again it probably wouldn't be a big deal to show votes, after all, most people don't scroll down to read the votes before the vote. :P
Sorry Matt I have no idea how easy it will be to implement things like this, but hopefully not too much of a pain for you. >.>

I too really like that idea Mowen, it would definitely help to aleeviate the bloating of high rated guides, and avoid the exclusivity of said guides in the first week.
