Why are the guide voting bars so inaccurate?

@ Lasoor the display is common (a score bar that is more or less full depending on score) and the general knowledge of how it works is understood by everyone, that's why we use it. Anyone can look at the display + order of guides and get the idea that the ones at the top with fuller bars are higher rated than the ones at the bottom with less full bars.

We are explaining this to you in depth because you are asking for the specifics, and as a guide author you are more interested in the details. That is fine, and the details could be more clear / easily available somewhere, and we will look into making resources like this for our guide authors.

Also, as I said, we do not pretend the score display is perfect, and we're looking into improving it at the moment.
Thanks to GrandMasterD for my sig!

Majority of your readers aren't even members on the site and you haven't taken any polls. So how would you know that everyone understands how your voting bar system works when there is also no easy to find information on it anywhere?

If you're going to keep the bar system as is, then please add some kind of clarification to it. As of right now it isn't clear at all what it says. It doesn't show any numeric data, it's just a green bar that changes. There is no visible math. Readers could assume it means a large amount of things based on the little bit of information given. It could mean views for all they know.

Anyway thanks for clarifying how it works. I've said just about all I wanted to and I hope you understood my rambling. Glad you're looking into ways to improve it, just want to make sure you see every perspective when doing so.

My suggestion would be if they are really set on this then at least show how many up and down votes.
I agree this would be a good idea. iirc there was an upvote/downvote display some time ago, so I guess it's feasible?

On the rest...

I speak from experience.
You're speaking from your own experience, not from the place where most of the players that look for a guide come (i.e. people new to the game/champion that barely know their viable builds; people that barely know what every item does or that don't even have a preferred playstyle). The site should probably focus on new players anyways, since LoL is still a growing game and "big" players with experience can judge the builds without looking at the score.

It's like you're literally asking for the best thing for you while complaining on everyone that doesn't do things like you. It doesn't come up as very insightful.

Um the experience I was speaking from was when I was a new player who knew nothing about the game. I don't look at guides nearly as much anymore except out of curiosity. And I've spoken to many people in my discord channel about this and none of them were able to guess what the bars meant. They all thought it was showing the vote ratio.

Now you actually have to work for a good rating.
If by "work" you mean "go through months without a single vote or, even, comment unless you post the link in as many review shops as possible", sure.

If you knew what playstyle you wanted and understood which items went in which playstyle, as you said, you probably had much more info than most new players.

Well on that I agreed that the bars can be improved. An upvote/downvote ratio and/or stop showing it as a percentage would go a long way in adding clarity.

Most people who take time to look up guides are the types who take time to look up other information too.
