Yes... this is the pain a melee DPS has... the early game is usually annoying as hell.
I am a player who plays mainly melee champions and I have noticed that tower hugging can be a great strategy, you should constantly remember that this is a team game, and people from other lanes should always look for ganks.
When I personally play akali, I tend to love switching to other lanes, steal some kills here and there (I call it sharing :3), and come back to my lane. Priority wise I find the 3 first turrets on the lane is extreamly important because after they are gone people will seriously start to gank and switch lanes. Never allow the enemy to get close enough to your turret, shroud and hurt them as much as you can, then back out. Akali is a great harass champion, with a resonably weak early game, step it up after your level 6, go to evey lane possible and gank anyone you see.
As for building rageblade, lul screw it, I agree with Jebus: AP AP AP!
Your main advantage is your strong PvP, make use of that and you+your team, get that flippin' turret down!
