some champs need that extra mana regen or health early. when i play as nunu i go 1 dorians ring ,first boot, and 2 more dorians rings before going for deathcap.
But also, my favorite champs for dominion are pantheon and teemo. these guys can just fly around the map.

Benefits of D. Ring stacking vs Catalyst
D. Ring stacking: Health, MP5, AP
Catalyst: Health, Mana, heal on level up, builds to AP/MR
Both are good but D. Ring stacking lets you get offensive much earlier because you will generally have more HP and damage than your Catalyst rushing opponent if done right.

For example 3 doran's rings give 300 health, 45 ability power and 15 mana regen.
