They are totally different. Jax is one of the greatest 1v1/1v2 champions (if not the best), and Cho'Gath is a tanky with nice disables

With the dodge nerf/elimination, Jax has lost all uniqueness in his abilities. His skills, also suffering from a severe nerf, make him a very unreliable player due to the many strange new things they tossed at him. While he can become fed and very annoying just like everyone other champion in the game I consider him much more underpowered recently.
