You pretty much pegged it. You want a good mix of physical/magic damage. However, you also want one tank and at least one offtank - or even a second main tank. Definitely need a jungler, and definitely need carries. A support is also great on any team - Taric, Janna, Sona, and Soraka being by far the most common.

That's a post about ranked matches, but good ranked teams = good normal teams, just ignore the picking section.
I don't remember if I put it in there, but yes a jungler always helps as long as you make sure you have 2 confident solo heroes. A jungle is useless if the solos can't hold their own.

I usually play with pretty much the same bunch of people and were trying to build a good team. What does a good team need? we usually have a jungler(usually shaco (me^^)), a physical carry (mainly twitch), karthus in mid a tank (usually rammus or vlad) the 5th charakter varys a lot.
I think a good team should have a mix of phys and mag dmg and 1 tank, carry, jungler. Any tips how to build a good team? im still pretty new in this game only lvl22 xD
