He generally counters most mid-champions and has a low-cooldown stronger (further range) flash ability with his ultimate, allowing him to generally take an extra offensive summoner spell since he doesn't need flsah.
Along with this:
- Relatively low cooldown long silence (2.6 seconds max ranked)
- A cone skill-shot snare.
- Easily snowballs
- Very strong late-game.
I love Kassadin. One of the most fun champs to play IMO. But I just wanted to correct a couple things to this comment. He has an AoE slow, not a snare. Also, his late game isn't super strong. You have to be relatively careful until level 6, poking with Q and getting them down so you can burst them down at lvl 6 with Q and slow. He is a very strong ap burst assassin who is great at chasing people down or escaping. Mid game is his strongest, and while he is still strong late game he falls off a bit I find because people tend to counter him if he's doing good and if he can't burst you down easily, he just has to kite you all day and it makes it harder for him to get in and out to do so. I still think he's a viable champ though and fun as **** to play.

Hes one of the few ap carries who can carry a game without having to have massive CS early on.
