They do have potential, but I have a feeling most of them are gonna turn out like generic or boring games with quirky characters and story.
That's almost a staple in Doublefine games by now.

The prototypes are out!
I played through them and the most interesting one was Mnemonic.
Little pink best buds was fun, but I'm not sure it's suited for a full game. Grass effects were pretty nice tho.
Steed is just an adventure/RPG in a unique and funny setting. Gameplay is bound to be bland and uninspired like in The Cave and Costume Quest. I will however commend them on their grass. Because OH MY GOD is that grass pretty. The rest of the game looks meh, but the grass, oh the grass!
Dear Leader was just kind of laborious. It's not a bad concept, but the execution makes me yawn in disinterest. The only thing I really liked was the art.

Yeah I went ahead and already bought this one, so far Little Pink buds is beautiful to look at, and the commentary is delightful. However that's about it not really to sure where their going to take this game once it's more developed

I know I'm a bit late to this one, but I've been busy. (there's only like 20hours left to vote)
The last one spawned the gem that is Black Lake. Buy the bundle to get access to their old prototypes, then download Black Lake and play it. It's really good for a prototype.
As for this round, I'm really sad that The White Witch's Gnome War and Buried Metropolis didn't make it into the finals. Dum Sim also seemed very interesting(and has an awesome name).
As for actual finalists, I liked them all except for Eras of Adventure and What Could Go Wrong?.
The ones that stood out to me were ExtraTerrarium, Ether and Project Chinese-sign(we really need more games with emergent and inventive gameplay like Magicka).
As for Pendleton Ward's prototypes, Little Pink Best Buds is probably the most coherent out of the four and one that would work well in actual game-form.
Cupid, You Fat Little Scamp seems like it could be good if implemented well. I'm not sure if he meant that the main game would be a side-scrolling platformer, because I don't think that would be a good fit for such a concept.
No More McDonalds is flat out impossible. Any kind of MMO-like game is impossible to make a 2-week prototype of.
The idea behind Damnit, Jerry is hilarious, but the game itself seems like it wouldn't be anything special.
