If you want to have an AOE team comp you should get something that forces your enemy not to run away from your AOE. Sona is a good start, other examples:
Galio
Amumu
Ashe (Ult + AoE combo anyone?)
A good Nunu might also work (You dont use the Ult for damage but for the slow instead)
Sejuani
Swain (not sure)
Morgana
IMHO GP's ult isnt even that strong for damage, especially later on.
Pant's the same. But they both offer some decent overall map pressure.
AOE damage are mostly only strong if the champ is playing AP.

Anyway, those AOE based teams are strong in theory, but you will rarely ever get to use it to it's full extend. Especially against a well organized team, which just might happen because I guess you're playing this kind of team with 4 friends. They are well organized too, and wont simply die in what one could call a clusterf-.
