He's too squishy in early game, he loses too much hp. Although he's still fast as ever, he gets even faster with levels. If he gets fed he can get to ridiculous state, where he tower dives 2 people alone and gets double.
He needs spell vamp quints for sustain (and those are 6k IP).

Dr. Mundo jungle lost with the S3 update his flaws. He no longer has his sustain+speed, both are worse. His ganks got also worse with all that super warding and the fact that more people got escapes from his slow. I would rather try him out top lane now, as I think he is underestimated here. Against Meele's, he has one of the highest AD steroids in the game, which is also usefull against turrets, and against ranged he has a % dmg dealing cleaver. Also, he has innate sustain which can be increased with Spirit Visage as first item (Generally the best item on Dr. Mundo). He can also push fast with Heart Zapper or a later Sunfire Aegis. And his last hitting under turret is one of the easiest. Finally, after 6, he is unkillable.

He still has amazing clear speed, his gank are sitll kind of lackluster til level 6..
And he now loses even more hp to the jungle.
