Yesterday, I met a Ryze Stacking Catalyst the Protector. Considering the level up thingy not being Unique, I imagine it was sort of a hell to play against him on lane for my teammates. (Didn't play lane against him)

Oldie used AP, ulti gave more AP and AoE.
Newbie uses mana, ulti gives spell vamp and AoE.
Discuss.
Personally, I think I like the new one better, since you can build survivability items to get the mana to deal damage with. So you are an offtank nuke, kinda. And the spell vamp is awesome if you are low, can change the tide of things drastically, almost like an HP transfer from your target to you. Whereas the extra AP just helped with a tad more damage.
