Top 5 Bot Lane Picks - Patch 14.7

We examined the win rates and pick rates of all the bot laners in Patch 14.7 to find the best five picks of the live patch!

The following data was extrapolated from LeagueOfGraphs. We took into account only the top five picks that exceeded 10.000 matches of data, at elos up to low diamond. The data is sorted from lowest to highest win rate.

5. Zeri

The Spark of Zaun surges to our fifth spot. During Patch 14.7 she boasts a win rate of 50.8% with some of the highest pick and ban rates on this list; second only to that of Jinx. Zeri continues to be a staple in professional play as well.

Zeri is designed around high speed and mobility. She is a great kiter and can completely overtake teamfights in the late game with Lightning Crash. As Zeri, you're expected to constantly move around to generate energy and deal extra damage. Zeri’s dash, Spark Surge, lets her dash a short distance through the air or vault over terrain, giving her some safety and a way to initiate scuffles.

Zeri's build, both item and rune-wise, complements this playstyle. Grab Lethal Tempo, Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Last Stand, with Conditioning and Overgrowth in the Resolve Tree. Start with a Doran's Blade, and get your Statikk Shiv as soon as possible. Follow it up with your Berserker's Greaves and some more attack speed with Runaan's Hurricane. From then on, you may want to top things off with some critical chance with Infinity Edge, and get some armour penetration through Lord Dominik's Regard. Your ability order is Q > E > W.

4. Jinx

Now we're jumping up to a very respectable 52.88% win rate, with the Loose Cannon herself. Jinx is currently the most popular bot laner in play, and it's easy to see why.

Like Zeri, Jinx is all about speed. However, unlike Zeri, Jinx is far more vulnerable throughout the entire game because she has virtually no mobility. You'll need a nice frontline and peel from your support to carry your team with Jinx. Some bit of safety is provided by Jinx's long attack range with Fishbones , the speed boost she gains after takedowns, and the crowd control on her W and E.

Jinx runs a similar rune setup to Zeri, with Lethal Tempo as her primary keystone. She does take Sorcery as her secondary tree however, grabbing Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm, to make her all the deadlier as the game goes on. Your first item will be Kraken Slayer, which complements her machine-gun gameplay with Pow-Pow. The rest of her build is quite standard - grab Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge, and Rapid Firecannon to further increase your auto-attack range. Max Q, W, then E.

3. Ashe

Next up, Ashe. The Frost Archer is currently sitting at a win rate of 52.8%, which means she's just as strong on Summoner's Rift as she is in TFT.

Ashe is another hypercarry like Jinx and plays and itemises quite similarly. Ashe is even more vulnerable than Jinx because she has absolutely no mobility whatsoever. However, she also has heaps of crowd control built into her kit, which helps her kite her enemies and hopefully stay at range.

Prioritise getting Kraken Slayer on Ashe as well, considering her auto-attack reliant playstyle. The slow from Frost Shot (passive) makes proccing Kraken Slayer even easier. Then grab your boots and build Trinity Force. Finish off your build with Terminus, Blade of the Ruined King, and Guardian Angel to maximise your survivability and kiting abilities. Max your Volley (W), then Q, then E.

2. Twitch

The new Cheddar Chef skin isn’t the only reason to play Twitch these days. The Plague Rat is currently sitting at 54.4% win rate, while still being one of the most played bot laners.

Twitch plays a little differently than most other bot laners, relying on catching his enemies off guard and blasting them with poison from the shadows. To apply as many Deadly Venom stacks as possible, Twitch wants attack speed and a bit of CC in his build. Like Jinx and Ashe, Twitch is completely immobile and is thus very vulnerable in teamfights.

Once again, you'll want Lethal Tempo for the attack speed buff, and take Presence of Mind, Legend: Alacrity and Coup the Grace in Precision too. Like other assassins, take Taste of Blood and Treasure Hunter in your secondary Domination tree. You'll want to get Blade of the Ruined King first; it helps you kite, and gives you just the faintest amount of CC to keep your targets in place for your onslaught. Runaan's Hurricane will apply Deadly Venom to multiple targets at once, then take Infinity Edge, Lord Dominik's Regard and Guardian Angel. Skill E, then Q, then W.

1. Kog’Maw

Is this five hypercarries in a row? Why, yes it is. Patch 14.7 seems to be the hypercarry patch, and so it's fitting that Kog'Maw be crowned the best bot laner of the patch, with a win rate of 54.8%.

Once again this is a bot laner that will get deadlier and deadlier, but one that needs to be protected during the early game and in team fights - like many of the above champions, Kog'Maw is utterly immobile. A good peeling support is a must to keep the voidling safe.

Lethal Tempo is his best keystone, and grab Triumph, Legend:Bloodline and Last Stand, as well as Conditioning and Overgrowth in the Resolve tree. Once again you'll want Blade of the Ruined King as your first item, followed by Guinsoo's Rageblade. Finish your build with a Runaan's Hurricane, Terminus, and Jak'Sho, The Protean. Max W, then Q, then E and blast your opponents with your empowered, long ranged autos.
