TFT K.O. Coliseum: Patch 15.4

Set 15, K.O. Coliseum, has received its fourth update! Read on to learn about all the changes that have gone live on Wednesday in Teamfight Tactics.

In a Nutshell

Patch 15.4 is here, and it's brought some big changes! Aside from the usual bundle of unit and trait changes, this patch has brought several system changes that are here for the long haul.

Champion Roles were introduced at the beginning of K.O. Coliseum, but a major change is hitting this new system already. The Assassin role has been completely removed, and all current Assassin units have been changed to Fighters. The Fighter role has also been adjusted; Fighters will no longer gain passive Omnivamp, but Attack Speed instead. Fighters across the board have received changes to stats and abilities to reflect their new influx of speed.

Additionally, Riot has decided to nerf Artifacts significantly through various avenues. Artifacts will now both be rarer and less powerful; with a couple of choice exceptions, which have received small buffs.

System & Game Changes

Champion Role Changes

The most dramatic change that’s come with Patch 15.4 is the removal of the Assassin Champion Role and the reworking of the Fighter role. Champion Roles were added fresh with K.O. Coliseum, so changes like these were to be expected. Since the Assassin role is being removed, champions who are currently tagged as Assassins (Katarina, Yasuo, and Akali) have all changed into Fighters.

As for Fighters, their passive is being changed. Fighters will no longer gain Omnivamp, and instead get 5-30% Attack Speed per stage. Some fighters have had their stats modified to account for the influx of Attack Speed coming their way. The reason for this change was because the Omnivamp gave a lot of power to Fighters early on, but fell off as the game went along. It also made a lot of favoured Fighter items (Bloodthirsters and Hand of Justices) obsolete.

Prismatic & Gold Orbs

Prismatic Orbs have been causing balancing issues for a while now. The random factor would sometimes lead to a very lopsided lobby; with some players getting fantastic rewards, and others getting boons that didn’t have much of an impact. Rather than try to continue to balance around the randomness, Riot has decided it was time for Prismatic Orbs to be equalised. Going forward, every player gets the same Prismatic Orb Output. The following are possible outputs, and their likelihoods:

  • 10% - 30 Gold

  • 10% - 3 Component Anvils & 1 Full Item Anvil

  • 10% - 4 Belts & 4 Reforgers

  • 10% - 1 Greater Duplicator & 2 Lesser Duplicators

  • 10% - 1 Artifact Anvil & 10 Gold

  • 8% - 45 Gold

  • 8% - 3 Full Item Anvils

  • 8% - 1 Spatula, 1 Reforger, 3 Component Anvils

  • 8% - 1 Rascal Gloves & 1 Thieves Gloves

  • 5% - 1 of each base component (8 total) & Golden Remover

  • 5% - 40 Gold & 20 Rerolls

  • 5% - 1 Radiant Lucky Chest & 2 5-Cost Champions

  • 1% - 1 Spatula, 1 Frying Pan, 40 Gold

  • 1% - A tiny present

  • 1% - A fishy reward

Additionally, Gold Orbs have been adjusted so they no longer output Artifact Anvils. Instead, Gold Orbs are now 2.5% more likely to produce Champion Duplicators and 5-Costs.

Artifact Nerfs

Artifacts have been a little too powerful and a little too plentiful in the arena. Not only were many Artifacts nerfed in Patch 15.4, and not only have Gold Orbs been bereft of their Anvil rewards, but the Loot Subscription Opening Encounter has been changed as well. The Artifact Anvil reward from the Loot Superscription Opening Encounter has been replaced with providing one Completed Item Anvil, and one Salvager.
