What to do if/when you lose lane?

I know everyone has their own strategies when it comes to losing lane, let's face it - we're all going to lose lane once in a while. While it's by no means a sign of a lost game, what do you do when you're behind? I mostly main assassin tops, so if I lose lane I try to just cs safely and only engage fights I know I can win. How about the rest of you? It'll be cool so see other opinions from people who play other roles :3

If you get outpushed and your turret goes down first, then what I like to do is just push the lane as hard as I can. This means that the laner, despite the tower going down, can't roam around and help other lanes. While you may have lost your lane, you can still ensure that your other lanes get the best possible chance. Be smart though, don't push without good ward coverage.

Additionally, alongside putting pressure on your lanes causing the enemies to have to deal with you, you also get precious gold and farm, which can keep you relevant in the game if your enemy laner/s decide to roam around.

Ensure that you change up your build for a losing lane. I see a lot of people, when they lose solo lanes, they continue to build full offense. Start building some defense. This is key. If you start losing your lane, aim to keep up, not to win it. Extra resistance ensures your lane resilience. If you're Jayce losing to an Orianna mid, consider getting a Hexdrinker over the early The Brutalizer.

There's some other nuances when in a losing lane, but those are some important tips to help you out.

    You want ADC main's opinion?

I farm up on my lane until I have enough money to at least have a chance. Then I proceed to join teamfights/raid/skirmishes and rely on my team on it. If I can't rely on my team I'll try to farm as safely as humanly possible.

As for top you probably want to ask for jungler's help and farm under your turret and try to avoid harass.

If you are behind in most positions it is wise to build some sort of defense. For mages this can mean some light resistance items like Zhonyas or Athenes rather then Deathcap. For ADC's this usually means lifesteal rather then crit. For pretty much everyone else it means you get tank items like WArmogs, Sunfire Cape, Randouins etc. Other then that just try and make sure the OTHER team doesnt get to press the advantage. Take dragon if you manage to force a few backs or freeze the lane and push if they try and roam. THis usually forces them to stay in your lane and prevents them from properly utilizing bonuses.
