Description

Hi guys Im TheImmortalEye, been playing league since like old Quinns release, mostly support so i just wanna share my experience about different types of support.
Forgive my bad Grammar , English is not my Native Languange, just here to help and any edit / comment is welcome

Categories mean:

Items are only mithics, legendarys often change depending on situation ( chemtank purifier if enemy has heal or similar)

Heal/shield +++ : extremely strong Heal/shield
Heal/shield ++ : good Heal/shield but maybe restricted or just weaker scaling like namis.
Heal/shield + : small Heal/shield like rakan q or rell q or heavily restricted ( items do not really count nor selfheal that has its own category)

Poke/Burst+++ : can oneshot easily as support and damage does really hurt, see brand .
Poke/Burst ++: high damage
Poke/ Burst + : good dmg but restricted ( auto poke is more dps as most can autopoke that are ranged )

Tank +++ : extremely tanky and enhance themselves often
Tank ++: tanky but no way/ less to make them tankier with abilitys
Tank+: can tank some damage
1

Classical Enchanters

Enchanters excel at providing buffs to your team that noone else can and increase your teams Powerbudget in lategame, compared to mages and engagers theire Laning phase is weaker. to counter enchanters usually u need to engage and all in effectively.their main weakness is usually theire immobile vulnerable targets which can be easily wiped down if not careful. big warning though: Enchanters do way more than just heal and shield, they apply cc, most can poke way better than most expect and add many other benefits to teammates, theire so much more than just a healer.Enchanters excel at providing buffs to your team that noone else can and increase your teams Powerbudget in lategame, compared to mages and engagers theire Laning phase is weaker. to counter enchanters usually u need to engage and all in effectively.their main weakness is usually theire immobile vulnerable targets which can be easily wiped down if not careful. big warning though: Enchanters do way more than just heal and shield, they apply cc, most can poke way better than most expect and add many other benefits to teammates, theire so much more than just a healer.

2

Offmeta Enchanters

these champs arent meta, but play like enchanter and can be a good alternative for the quirky players who go against the norm such as me.

3

Catchers

catchers excel at singleling out a Target and eliminating it with help of teammates, forcing the enemy to fight a battle with a numbers disadvantageunlike vanguard they often dont risk much as they do it at range or safety.

4

ENgage ( Vanguards)

these guys are usually tanky, beefy frontliners who charge and use cc to lock down enemys, they do need to move into risky territory  to do this compared to catchers, who excel at longer range lockdown. luckily theire beefy and focusing down a tank isnt ideal.

5

Wardens

defensive Tanks excelling at disengage, defensive crowd control and applying unique buffs or debuffs. are usually conditional and favoured more as pocket picks.

6

Poke

Poke is applying dmg over long distance and without much commitment, so throwing a Xerath q doesnt put him in danger for example unlike a Leona Engage, any champ that has long range autos or abilities can Poke to a degree, but mages often excel at it due to their long range high damage skillshots.

7

Quirky Offmetas

these are true offmetas ( some more than others) but if youre good at those and are filled in, want to have fun in normals or just want to go against the norm these are for You

8

Chads

last years meta saw the emergence of these two as Supports.True Men of support they might have been nerfed down quite a bit, but if youre willing to show your inner strenght these are for you.

9

Senna and her ADC Friends

Senna has opened the gate for some Adcs to truly become Supports, the autopoke can be insane but adding 2 vulnerable targets into a team for a Diver to kill can be a mistake.

10

Ap Renekton

one time my support got pissed as i played taliyah adc as i was autofilled, so he picked renekton and build ludens, morello and wardstone. Legend went 0 33 5. obvios ****post here XD if you do this though i found out where you live and eat all of your toes.

Vi, Dr. Mundo and Nasus are so quirky they appear twice.

Ivern support is incredibly good when coupled with a Jhin or a Caitlyn due to his root, pairing a jhin 4th shot with a root is insane damage for little to no risk. Ivern with exhaust is pretty good but if you run him with Smite you can easily take scuttle and invade to take camps. And now that Ivern gets proper gold from krugs it could make him great. His build stays the same but maybe get tear on first back so you can roam and steal camps and come back to lane after.

i know mate, this list isnt a ranking in the traditional sense, hes only the "weakest" as theres basicly abilities missing , his passive and bushes are ofc weaker than jungle and with solo q autofill adc u wont do too well often, but like nunu i play ivern often jungle and support and hes incredibly good and fun, heck i play lillia sup all the time XD

Most of the champions in the poke category seem to be mages that was shoved out of mid.

TheImmortalEye (13) | October 18, 2021 1:24am
well besides the odd karma/seraphine most poke champs are mages - artillery or burst usually which have a hard time midlane due to slayers / skirmischers / assasins being so good at shutting them down, but some of them can find a good spot in support by applying offensive pressure= Poke . that said any ranged champ can poke to a degree ( auto and long range abilities). Riot refuses to make poke champs as theire not flashy or explosive in gameplay and poke annoys people.

Just wanted to say that Lilia's passive dot is only 3 seconds :( Dream-Laden Bough
Also, Abyssal Mask is the item that increases damage on imobalized abilities. I think you're thinking of Demonic Embrace, which applies a damage over time-effect when you damage enemies with your abilities.

TheImmortalEye (13) | October 12, 2021 4:07am
ur truly a blessing mate XD, true thats why third item is demonic embrace to increase the time of procs slightly.
overall though u can proc moonstone many times.

That is true - Always made me wonder if moonstone renewer was actually designed for brand and other champions with damage over time, since it seem to synergize so well with moonstone renewer.

Anivia is good with vayne. It's just a hard start, unless you can place some good walls. They are good together, but honestly I feel like it's done mostly for the wall + condemn combo, which isn't exactly a SUPER good combo. It's decent.

TheImmortalEye (13) | October 12, 2021 3:50am
np i can add that but sadly a single combo doesnt usually put a champ into extrem high viability ( taric yi gold funnel) i do the same as trundle or taliyah and its fun though. i just stink as anivia

Metallichydra (12) | October 12, 2021 3:59am
oh, sorry, it wasn't a request for you to add it, merely a comment. Stating the reason why I think she's paired with vayne.
In my experience, vayne is picked much more frequently when I pick Anivia, compared to normal.
And yes, it's fun, no doubt!

Excelent Tier bro what about Singed?
2
TheImmortalEye (13) | October 1, 2021 2:36am
ill be truly honest, except for yasou i have never seen singed except with a yasou to enable ult, but that can be done by anyone with a knockup so how does it work and why ? asking as a former season 5 singed main before my support legacy.

tha soup (3) | October 1, 2021 12:09pm
Well Singed support aren't the best support but its really good in some matchs(VS MELEE ONLY)and the strategy is try to get early kills with the E W "combo" and roam with the jg to get kills and on teamfights be really annoying.....Maybe i will make a guide for this

One thing I think you should explain is that enchanters are not at all passive champions that stand behind their adc and just heal them. Some of my friends think you only need to stand back and heal only, not acknowledging that many of them even have abilities that are designed for them to actually fight during the laning phase :(
(Examples, for context: Soraka Q, Yuumi passive, Seraphine passive, all of the good poke they have)
TL;DR: My friends (and probably other people too) believe enchanters should only heal, although they have great poke, some of which reward the user with healing and shields when they hit.

TheImmortalEye (13) | September 30, 2021 1:18am
true im sorry i forgotto add it , i will add this in since especially nami , janna and even yuumi can actually poke extremely well and you can even win lane easily

Metallichydra (12) | September 30, 2021 9:19am
Oh, no, I'm the one that's sorry, it wasn't meant as a demand or anything like that, merely a suggestion. I'm sorry if I worded it poorly.

You put a lot of work into this and it was worth it - I love it! It is so clear, well thought and offers definitely useful explanation. Good job! <3
