League of Legends Crest of Cinders

What is it?

The Crest of Cinders, commonly known as the "red buff" or simply "red" for starters, is a neutral buff granted by the Red Brambleback, which can only be found on the Summoner's Rift map. The buff appears visually as a spinning red rune circle on the ground around the champion who currently holds it.

The duration of the buff is 2 minutes before it disappears, assuming that the holder has not been killed before it runs out.

What does the Crest of Cinders grant?

- Basic attacks against non-turret units slow by 10 / 15 / 25% (percentage halved to 5 / 7.5 / 12.5% when the basic attack is ranged) for 3 seconds (depending on level), and burns the target for 12−114 true damage, applied in 3 ticks over 2 seconds, with the 1st tick of damage occurring on-hit and the next 2 ticks occurring each second thereafter. Applying this damage effect while a target is already affected by it refreshes the 2-second burn duration, but does not deal the on-hit damage.

- Also, when the buff-holder is out-of-combat with enemy champions and epic monsters, Crest of Cinders heals for 1 / 3 / 9% maximum health per 5 seconds (depending on level).

- If the buff-holder is slain by an enemy champion, this buff transfers to the killer.

How to Obtain?

  • By landing the killing blow to the Red Brambleback
  • By killing a champion that possesses the Crest of Cinders; it is transferred and the duration of the buff is refreshed.
  • After an allied Ivern (has to be at least level 5) applies and then triggers Friend of the Forest on the camp of the Red Brambleback; the red orb that spawns from it has to be collected.
