What is a Signature?

A forum signature is a block that is appended to the bottom of every comment you make; whether it be a comment on a thread, guide or blog. Text, images, and bbcode can be put in signatures on mobafire.com. Your signature is a way to give people a look into what you like, show off you or your friends mad gfx skills, or a way to advertise your guides.

Signature Rules

Everything in the General Rules and Guidelines applies to signatures as well. If you are unfamiliar with our forum rules you should probably read them!

There aren't many restrictions on signatures, but here they are:

  • Signature height cannot exceed 150px
  • Signature width cannot be wider than the comment box
  • Do not use art / graphics that was made by somebody else without their permission
  • No adult / illegal material or links to adult / illegal material
  • No referral links / links to "free RP" sites
  • No advertising

Where can I get a signature?

You can use any images or text in your signature as long as it follows the signature rules listed above.

If you are not artistically inclined and would like to find some nice folks to make a signature for you check out our Signature Forums for signature shops, or simply make a thread requesting a signature.

If you are requesting a signature, some good things to include in the request are:

  • A picture or render (image separated from the background) that you would like the artist to use
  • Any text you would like on the signature
  • Any other details specific to the signature you want

Please keep in mind if you request a signature that the artist might be busy or not notice it for a while. Please be patient and treat our signature artists with respect and don't pester them. :)

How do I Edit my Signature?

Click on the cog in the top right of your screen (on your toolbar) and click on the "Edit Profile" button. Next, click on the "Signatures" tab to get to the input box where you put all of your bbcode for your signature. As I mentioned before you can put plain text, images, and bbcode in this input box.

For more detailed instructions check here: http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/wiki/mobafire/guide-browsing-and-signatures-mobafire-how-to-series

If you are unfamiliar with bbcode check out our BBCode Guide.

How do I Use an Image for my Signature?

In order to use an image in your signature it needs to first be uploaded to the internet.

If someone made an image for you or you are using an existing image this is already done for you. Now you just need to get the image url in order to put it in your signature. To do this simply right click on the image and click "Copy Image URL."

Next you need to put the image url in image tags using bbcode. You will probably also want to center the image in your signature using the center tags. Here is the code to achieve this:

Code:
[center][img]http://i.imgur.com/oIsGy.png[/img][/center]

Yields:

How do I Link my Guide to an Image in my Signature?

To make an image link to a url simply put the url tag around the image tag.

Code:
So this is how the url code works, [url=url goes here]text or image[/url] So if we want to put an image that has a url attached to it, we simply have to nest the tags like so, [url=url goes here][img]img url goes here[/img][/url] NOTE: It's very important that you nest them. They have to go [url][img][/img][/url]. [url][img][/url][/img] won't work! Again I will use the [center] tag to center the image in my signature. Note that I am still nesting the tags so that the outermost, middle, and inner tags match eachother. This code: [center][url=http://www.mobafire.com/profile/mowen-21137][img]http://i.imgur.com/EcqYV.png[/img][/url][/center]

Yields:

If you click on it it will take you to my profile page. If you want it to like to a guide just use the guide's url instead.

How do I Randomize my Signatures?

You can have multiple signatures and have them show up randomly whenever someone loads a page. This is achieved using the randomize tag.

Code:
[ri] = randomize item, you must have at least 2 of these if you want your signature to change. [ri] must be within the [randomize] tag. [randomize] [ri] Signature 1 [ri] Signature 2 [ri] Signature 3 [/randomize] This: [randomize] [ri] [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/oIsGy.png[/img][/center] [ri] [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/EcqYV.png[/img][/center] [ri] [center][img]http://www.mowendesigns.com/images/articles/Mowen.png[/img][/center] [ri] [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/QVy5T.png[/img][/center] [/randomize]

Yields:

There should be a random selection from the 4 signatures in the ri tags. Because of caching using the randomize tags in forum posts, blog posts, guides, and wikis the picture won't change for a while. However, since caching is disabled in signatures the image should update every time the page is reloaded. :)

Thanks a lot, I couldn't figure it out for the life of me before. Now I just need to refine my signature, but at least it's up there.
