Views: 2615 Rod of ages is not even good on Lissandra!

Rod of ages barely gives anything to lissandra and is not worth the gold when you compare it to other items you COULD have gotten, like morello's, zhonyas, abyssal, rabadons, void staff, haunting guise, deathfire grasp.
I have seen so many lissandras build rod of ages as their first item and pretty much throw their lane as well as any burst that they COULD have had. And seeing as every single lissandra guide at the moment has rod of ages, I urge you people not to build that item. Any items I have listed above are better choices (depending on the game), but you should pretty much never need to buy rod of ages.

If you're against an AD mid, I would rush seeker's armguard?
And rod of ages isn't THAT bad, but it's definitely worse than so many options that you have. In comparison to the other choices, your damage at the moment you buy it is pretty low and your burst is not very threatening.
and honestly, I think the catalyst really slows down the build the moment you buy it, thats the main problem.
Armguard + Catalyst makes you incredibly tanky. It works in setups where you play on the late-game rather than the mid-game which is a good thing. Never mindlessly rush RoA on dps champs but it works in certain situations.

I dunno, but at my elo every new lissandra player i've seen (with the exception of one) has build rod of ages first. All of them were on the enemy team, and they actually won their lane, then went on to lose it.
Tbh RoA on a mage like lissandra isn't as bad as you make it sound. The hp and mana are put to good use but it indeed slows your overall build. Personally I like the chalice build but in some cases RoA can be a good way to go as it works against many AD mids.
