2 caster spell, both dealing 100 dmg: 1 blocked, 1 not = 100 dmg.
4 AA, all dealing 50 dmg: 2 blocked, 2 not = 100 dmg.

Think about it: There tons of resources Riot can copy/paste from.
WoW for example:
PPl will have a block "chance" but also a block "value".
