"A flat amount of MR or MR reduction will increase your damage by a %. Let's say fiddlesticks's passive increases your damage by 5% exactly (to make it simple). Let's look at how much damage that passive will give you.
Early game, you do 100 DPS. 5% of 100 = 5 extra DPS
