Caitlyn count, 2-0

Okay guys, I'm going to start with a different format this time, giving you the endgame stats as a list, and I'm probably going to do likewise in future blogs. A weird thought, I know, but certainly helpful for my own eyes and I suppose probably makes things a whole lot easier to read if you just want to know stats.

Lane: Bot
Role: ADC
Champ: Caitlyn
Endgame total score: 11/5/11
Support: Nami
CS:
End Build: Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster, Berserker Greaves, Phantom Dancer, Last Whisper

So we were purple this time, and believe me when I say this, not used to that yet, but still did pretty well. Overall I watched the replay of my own game, and there is a lot that I could improve. First of all, I could land more skill shots, ie my peacemaker, by getting sliiiiiiiiiightly closer. I mean like about 90% of my missed skillshots were DEAD on for direction, would have hit, but were off by about half a pixel's space. With that in mind, I believe that with time and practice, I will greatly improve my proficiency with this champion, as well as others, such as Nid. It may actually be because of Nidalee that I'm missing my skillshot, because I'm so used to her ultra long range, and I land those spears often. Eventually I hope to learn to separate these two's skill shots, but at the moment, I guess I play more Nid support anyway.

Anyway, on to game play. Nami and I leashed blue for our jungler, then headed bottom to deal with a lane which had already been pushed to our turret. After falling about 2 CS behind, our jungle came down to gank, and we drew an unofficial double kill. For the record, the enemy Ashe... well, Ashe/Pantheon might be a good way to start off some games, but I don't feel like Pantheon makes a terrific support past about level 3. Further, even though I didn't make good use of cleanse, I continuously beat out the Ashe, over and over and over again for skill shots, and she kind of hung around more often than she should have. Now, I'm not usually one to judge, but after looking her up, she has at least twice as many normal wins under his/her belt as I do, so I'm kind of surprised. Anyway, I know it's hard to gank a Caitlyn who uses and abuses her traps, and I did so religiously, as I do on Nidalee, given that it's practically impossible to gank a Nid who traps every time it's off cooldown.

Short version is that we won the lane, and then the AP mid Trist decided it was time to come down and gank, given that our own mid Teemo (really, please, don't ask, the Teemo is good, but the Trist... well you've heard how hard late game AP trist falls off, right?) had fed her slightly due to her terrific burst damage early. In summary, we won the lane and then I got killed twice in a row. We got their turret. Now, I know you all will say there's no difference between blue and purple sides, but I would tend to disagree with you as someone who often plays supports and ADC's with long range skill shots. On blue side, you can actually see your target without unlocking your camera, on purple, not so, in my opinion. Anyway, this came into play for me as I kept trying to land skill shots and just barely missing them due to vision. Looking at the replay, I was dead on, but had I been closer, I'd have hit, as stated earlier.

From there, we entered mid-game/late game, and the roaming began. Contrary to what I was expecting, their team didn't roam in groups, our team did. I believe that this is the main reason that we won the game, actually, as it not only allowed me to catch up on farm/kills to the rest of their team, I did better than a lot of our team, and died FAR fewer times than teemo, at 15. Hidden passive taunt OP. We went ahead and started fights, we initiated with Nami, etc etc, and shortly after mid-game, we started to shut them down, hardcore. We had five dragons that game, and it really showed, though we never went for Barron, and probably could have/should have. In my mind, there always just looked like little threats, but honestly, after we only had their Karma defending, it would have been the perfect time. I'm not sure we ever scored an ace, but we definitely beat them out pretty hardcore on team comp. Shen was probably the best on their team, but he never knew who to ult given that 90% of the time we had two ganks going down at once. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to look at double carry comps, like Cait/Teemo, more carefully? More on that thought later, I guess.

Anyway, our team was on skype the whole time and I figure that also had a lot to do with our good teamwork, given that everything that went on was called in skype faster than someone could type it. We kept a pretty tight leash on their carries, and without a good ADC, it was very hard for them to hard push. I know that Ashe CAN be a very good carry, I've seen it before, but this one... was not. I'm not here to say I'm better than anyone, but perhaps that Ashe needs to play some more bots and get down when to Volley, Arrow, and turn off her frost shot. Never saw her hawk come out, meaning if she was firing it, it was way far off, but I somehow doubt that she was using it because she never saw Kha'Zix coming. Similarly, Pantheon never picked up any supporty items, such as wards, so... yeah I'm going to give a little ode for wards now.

Wards, wards, we buy them so that we can see the map,
Wards, wards, we buy them so we don't get ganked to ****,
Wards, wards, we buy them so that we have a chance to win,
Wards, wards, we buy them so our carry isn't damn starving thin.
Wards, wards, we buy them to see in both sides of jungle bush,
Wards, wards, buy them, or expect to get a kick in the tush.

Now that that's all good and done, BUY WARDS. No, but seriously, buy them. If you're a character with traps, it's “acceptable” to go without wards, but certainly, it is still a good idea to BUY wards.

Now, we get to the end game, which I believe was about 47 minutes in. I got my last two kills after having gotten my 5 item final build, on Karma and Ashe, respectively, and then after taking two inhibitors, we pushed in and took out the two nexus turrets, and then the nexus, before trist could back and try to take out all 5 of us. She'd been backdooring up on top lane, and we pushed in both mid and bot lane. Good tactic, not quite fast enough on AP tristana, IMO.

Final prognosis—they want a rematch, AD Caitlyn and co score another win. Added the shen because quite honestly, dem was some scaaaaaaaary times to ult in, and balls to the wall can win a game.

Note: Sorry to anyone who actually bothered reading the first two posts, this one came much later than the intended date, as real life came up.
