So I recently played a game with 
Ezreal. The game started off really well, I ended up going 7 and 0. I had a really good support down bot with me which allowed me to snowball. But our mid and jungler were throwing the game super hard. They were doing dumb mistakes such as farming top while every enemy was MIA, getting caught while trying to invade the jungle, or try to tower dive 3+ people when none of us were there. I think the score was something like 34-27 at the 30 minute mark. Keep in mind that we were winning 25-12.
We finally started to team-fight and it went awful. I think it was our Galio's first time playing Galio or something. He would literally ult. and miss EVERYONE. Then our Rammus decided it was a good idea NOT to taunt the fed Ashe, but instead taunt the Soraka. I asked him why he taunted Soraka and he said, "lol are u dumb? if i taunt her she can't use her heals noob." I kid you not, that is what he said...At this point of the game, we didn't have a big chance of winning. I still tried though, but I couldn't carry. My team never peeled for me, so I had to stay in the VERY back then go in to clean-up. Here is a pic of my score:

I have heard of Elo Hell before and that is the reason why I don't play ranked...I am to afraid to play because of people who DC, troll, or are just bad players.
Yeah, it mostly comes down to luck, regardless of skill, in solo queue. But of course, that doesn't apply to ranked teams, which is where the REAL fun is anyway, imo.
Some games just can't be carried. And if you get unlucky enough to play such games often in ranked you'll be stuck in this thing called Elo Hell :/
