"I've seen a Rammus try to carry.
Rushed himself a Thornmail + Sunfire cape, and was constantly ganking and getting kills. lol
Can't remember the rest of his build though. Think he had a 2nd sunfire, this was before it became unique."

Nothing wrong with that.
Except the Stark synergizes horribly. Aegis and maybe an Archangel for allowing free-er spell-spam would be good."

"Maybe this is why my team won so hard even though I once fed using my AP TF build.
Fed 21 times, but thanks to another person with Clairvoyance, we ganked at Baron 3 times, and got tons of 500~1k killing spree enders, and pushed to nexus and won. :P

If it is less effective AND unfun in comparison, I would downvote it.
You have to be able to appeal to at least one of the two factors for PvP games.
