|
Hi everybody,
I joined Moba months ago, 'cause when i was a fresh player i really liked the help of builds you people make here (heck, i still like to see what you guy can think of :P)
The reason I decided to make a blog post now though i didn't make one all this time is simple - I am so terribly tired with solo q ranked games...
When i started playing them LoL evaluated me for 1095 ELO and I though "hey, it's not that bad, i can make it to the 1300+ in no time" - man, i was sooo wrong... I thought that all players that want to play ranked games prepared the same way i did (collect few good champions for every role, prepare specs for them, buy runes, practice every role and see some PRO players' streams to make sure you know what to do), so imagine my surprise when in my first game 3 of 5 players told they only know how to play one role and generally dont know basics about this game (like supports killing ad's minions, not a single ward entire game or buying completly wrong items)...
After my first 2 or 3 games i decided that to make thing easier for my random teams (and this way make myself more likely to win a game and grab some ELO) i will always take the most difficult roles, which seems to be support and jungle.
This tactis seemed to be working, 'cause i won about 3 of 5 games i played, result not that bad, but then my luck changed - i started to get most ridiculous players i have ever seen on LoL...
Shen who claimed to be super jungler and then did only one gank entire game, in which he died (the reason ? enemy team used wards... sure, it's not even worth trying to gank when there are wards involved...). Pantheon who was 100% sure his champ is not solo top champion, and to prove it, died 3 times in 6 minutes by diving Malphite (of course it was always our fault...). And finally the most recent one (from last game) but now my favourite: Ashe that acted like she had some major brain damage - started the game following our jungler, stole 2 of his 3 wraiths, almost took his blue, camped mid for 3mins, then went bot and made 10cs before she died. And that's just beginning of her many deeds.
And why I am telling you about all this stuff ?
Because I think that they are way too many inexperienced people trying to play ranked, for which they are just not ready and this way they spoil the game for other players, who spent their time to be prepared. So if you are reading this and wondering if you are ready to play ranked then please, give yourself a honest answer and don't play if you were not sure about "yes, I am".

Once you reach an elo you are proud of, you will stop giving a **** about normal games. Just sayin'.
And finally I want to say that IMHO ELO hell does exist, but it's more a state of mind then a range of points in ranking - and I really want to escape that place :P
Ding! Ding! You are a winner you have discovered what ELO Hell truly is!
Second, I can't answer to all you said individually, so i will try to make some genereal points
1) I know that carrying team as a DPS seems like an insta-win option for low ELO but it didn't seem to work for me (maybe it was just a bad luck of mine :P) - whenever i played good mid, even when i was like 6/0/sth, it didn't matter, 'cause other lanes already fed enemies so bad, it was impossible to fight back
2) I think that good support can really change the game and turn bad teamfights into low-cost aces, but I can agree that with bad team, support won't make a change - reason is simple, support can only boost what is already good in players, not make them play well
Summing up i will go with your advice and try to carry my next games as a mid or jungler.
Hope it will work :P

1. Elo Hell does exist, its range is 0-infinity. If you don't get what I mean, don't play ranked.
2. Support is generally an amazing role to play as when carrying a team, as long as you are doing duo queue with a competent player.
It's supports that turn games around, and generally as a support your mindset affects the whole team. So if you stay positive, your team will stay positive.
3. Overall, out of all the roles to raise your elo, I would recommend mid. usually you get a terrible mid, or just a mid that's doing bad. Yes, in other roles you do as well, but remember that your mid is centered in the middle of the map. That means you must be continuously wary of ganks, are always in position to help, and are always in position to gank. A good mid wins games.
I feel you. At that ELO it's probably best to play jungler and try to force the enemies to rage quit 'cause they actually will if you snowball your lane at the very least they'll begin flaming each other :3
I played many roles before going 0/9, then I jungled
Support is fine to play. If you play a good support and ward as well as win your AD bot lane. Not to mention warding late game as well as oracles is super important, games are lost to late game face-checking so trying for higher ELO with support is fine if you can play it well.
This is true, but if u wanna carry a team at that ELO I would recomend another role
There is no ELO Hell but there are trolls. I've played with trolls that feed and lose on purpose cause they've been trolled too and believe me you can't carry them.
Sadly this is also true and I have experienced this several times, but as I said, it happens to all of us including the opposing team ;)
Okay dude, listen. The only way to get higher ELO is to carry ur team. Now, you might say that u allways get the ******ed players on YOUR team and there is just no way to carry them, but that's just not true. 50% of the time the ENEMY team has a "feeder" and u have to take advantage of that. Playing Taric support is a very bad way to take advantage of this cuz like cyberskull mentioned, u can't carry a team playing support. Play jungle, mid, top or carry, anything but support, win ur lane, then help out ur other lanes. Remember, carrying a team to victory is not nessecarily about getting super fed yourself, but keeping ur teammates fed by assisting them and keeping them ahead of their opposing laners. Now this is easier to achieve if ur a jungler or mid in my opinion. There is no such thing as "ELO hell" and if u can't carry ur team, I'd say you belong in whatever ELO u're in. However I understand how frustrating it can be to have ****ty teammates, trust me;)
