masteries: get 3% move speed, it is so good it's not even funny. For sure get it if jungling.
items: don't get philostone, you don't really need it and if you aren't building shurelyas it's a waste of early game money.

"the problem is this type of karthus is so weak late game. during a team fight you can't really do anything, and even with spell vamp you die super fast. late game spell vamp does nothing ... and cdr is a waste because you only do really good damage us an elongated fight . "
