Views: 579 My First time Champs Part I
|
So, I think I'm gonna keep a record of games I've played a champ for the first time and share my experiences with those that feel the need to read about it ;)
I have a very large champ selection already as you can read about in the My Champs post so there are gonna be some champs people love that I've already played and hated, for that... I apologize, I guess xP.
Moving on, today I played
Kennen and
Diana for the first time. Now, some of you are definitely familiar with
Kennen so you probably already know this but...
Kennen AP = OP. I haven't played him AD yet and probably won't anyway since I tend to gravitate towards AP champs more than anything else, that is unless they have some sort of On Attack feature (ex:
Fiora, whom I've not played yet and want to badly).
Kennen:
Farming - 7-10 Once you get a little farm already and the obvious AP items
Needlessly Large Rod and so forth, you just can't go wrong with the farm mechanics. Hit the melee minions at least once each, E then W and poof, insta-CS.
Laning Phase - 8-9 He's a great ganker, roamer but where Kennen tends to shine in this is 1v1, poke damage, stuns, mobility... the works. I'd rather be Kennen that play against him for sure, his harass is pretty constant.
Team Phase - 9-10 Where
Kennen shines and where the difference between a good
Kennen and a great
Kennen is made. Obviously if you're AP,
Zhonya's Hourglass is a must, but don't go and make a glass cannon out of yourself, at least pick up a
Rylai's Crystal Scepter or a
Rod of Ages. While mobility is key here I don't think fast boots are more important than Magic Pen due to his E and decent positioning.
Overall - 9 This is a purely awesome champ. An absolute must try at least once, own worthy for any AP Champ player. Remember, don't make yourself a glass cannon by getting only AP items, Kennen is super squishy if you're not careful and due to his ult being a self centered AoE it's best to at least be able to take a little damage before having to pop your Zhonya's.
Item Build:
Boots 3 HP Pots, Catalyst, Sorc Boots, NLR, Revolver, Sheen, RoA, WotA, ZH, Lichbane, Abyssal Scepter or RCS. I tend towards this build for Top Lane for more laning sustain but for AP Mid I'd probably go Sheen first, instead of Catalyst, for that extra harass damage. Also, build will vary depending on enemy team and how well my team is doing, sometimes an early Zhonya's is a great idea, sometimes an early WotA is necessary...

Diana: (AP > AD)
Riot
Diana broken... I played her AP and went Mid. First time playing her and I owned my lane against a
Brand. Granted I got a great early gank from my
Nocturne, but only because I gave him a Superman Leash (if you don't know what that is and you Mid a lot, learn it!). Anyway, on to the ratings.
Farming - 7-8 her Q is nice to farm with if you position yourself right but due to it's curved attack box it can sometimes make you get into dangerous situations. Still once it's leveled and you have a few items it pretty much one shots caster minions and if you hit the melees with your W after Q gets through them it's pretty much easy-peezy.
Laning Phase - 8-10
Diana 1v1 is friggin' insanely OP as an AP champ. Her E does no damage but it pulls them towards you (limited range I think) and slows them, great for finishing off a running enemy. Coupled with her Q -> R -> E -> W combo... it's usually insta-death for most squishy Mids. Keep in mind, Q puts moonlight on enemies and causes no cooldown for her R (FKING OP I SAY!), so if you've hit them with your combo and they're still up, if you've done things correctly your R is still up and you can get to them again for at least a little more damage to hopefully finish the job.
Team Phase - 7-8 This isn't her strongest point but what
Diana excels at is pinpointing the enemy AD/AP damage champs and pwning them in the face. Usually you sit off to the side when a team fight breaks out, wait for their Carries to show themselves and combo them. Learn your Q, this is very important! If you miss your Q it's usually going to spell them living and you dying.
Overall - 8 She's a great champ to be sure, very OP due to her very low cooldowns and extreme burst damage. Even if you miss your Q and use R it's CD is insanely low compared to most it just won't be back up in the same team fight you used it in, which is why I say, practice your Q, learn it, breath it, love it! She's definitely going to be one of those competitive played champs. I foresee a little nerf coming her way but I could be wrong, if this is what they intended then you can expect to see a lot of
Diana for a long time.
Build:
Boots 3 HP Pots, NLR, Sorc Boots, Revolver, Sheen, RoA, RCS, RDC, Lichbane, WotA/HGB. It's not neccisarially in that order but these are the basic items I go for depending on who I'm against and how my team's doing. This would be my "pwning them in the face" build path.

Up next one or two of the following:
Shen,
Karma,
Hecarim,
Garen, or
Warwick.
