So, for the next installment of my first time experiences I bring to you a requested Jarvan IV, and Shen.

So lets kick it off with Shen, well, first I want to explain that while my map awareness is pretty good, it's not "Shen" good. Now those of you that play him, and play him well know exactly what I mean. For those of you a little confused as to what I mean, look at his Ult and just maybe you'll have a smidgen of a clue.

Farming - 4-5: Obviously if you're farming as a support, you're doing it wrong. That being said his farm abilities here were underwhelming at best, which is fine.

Laning Phase - 6-8: Honestly, your main goal as a support Shen is to keep them off your ADC and not feed. If you see an opportunity and your ADC is paying attention, a good taunt can mean the difference between winning and losing your lane.

Team Phase 7-9: This, in my opinion, is where Shen truly shines in any role. He brings a lot of utility to the table in any team fight with his taunt, ult, and life leech skill. As a support though, he's really not much other than a poor initiator without being at least somewhat fed, something that doesn't happen unless you just get totally dominating during Laning Phase.

Overall - 7: Not my best first time experience, and one of my saddest moments in Support role. But, I can see how and why he's sometimes the most banned champ in the game. He's a game changer and that will never change.

Jarvan IV

OP kind of describe J4 pretty well. I'm not great solo top but is there any other way to play him other than Jungle? Actually, I would have jungled had someone not beaten me to it on Lee Sin. Anyway, onto my "review"

Farming - 8-10: Even early, farming on J4 is a breeze. His E/Q combo decimates minions after a while and it's just a matter of last hitting properly until that point. As such he's one of the few champs I'd ever play Top Solo regularly, next to Irelia and Malphite.

Laning Phase - 8: His poke is very good vs melee champs and even note worthy (I'm guessing) against ranged champs. So no matter who you're laning against, it's not easy to be countered. All I had to do was pop my Q on them every so often and after a while I had them zoned out until we reached the team fights, basically you bully them until you win your lane.

Team Phase - 8-9: One thing to remember when playing J4 is you can cancel your Ult by just hitting R again, you don't wana be caught in your own Ult under the enemy tower, I've seen it done before and I generally laugh at them for it. Either way, the Ult can be a very effective initiation, kill secure, or even escape in the most dire of situations. I actually did ult/flash out in the jungle boxing the entire enemy team on one side of an opening while I calmly walked away with 10 HP.

Overall - 9: I can see why someone wanted me to play him, the guy is pretty much OP even if handled incorrectly. He's fun to play, interesting kit and great bruiser for those that love to play the style. While not exactly suited to my personal play style, he's still worthy of my attention if and when I play Top Solo.
