Hello to all my readers!!
Today I wish to address a trend in LOL that greatly troubles me. This is the loss of a true tank role in exchange for tanky built carries (mainly ad melee). The problems with this scenario are two fold.
#1. Lack of initation and CC: The main role of a tank is to initate team fights and throw down some heavy CC. Tanks like
Alistar,
Amumu,
Rammus, and
Leona are desinged to jump in put down some cc on the enemy carries and let your carries come in behind and wreck face on a helpless enemy team. However, parts of the current meta/new guie theories Im seeing are tending making tanks do lots of damage and were strongly moving away from CC tanks. Oh sure we see
Alistar and
Amumu now and then, but I remember when
Rammus was instabanned in ranked games or when people actully played
Shen for his AOE taunt. This worked, it still works, we just dont use it. Instead we favor off-tanks that can go solo top, or maybe building an offtank
Amumu who can jungle. I just dont understand it.
#2. Is the afore mentioned fact that we are building tanky carries? WHY??? Ok I recently saw and commented and proceeded to down vote a build that puts
Pantheon solo top with a 4k plus build that A. gives him 3.6k hp, B. only 172 AD and C. has virtually no magic resist. Yet despite this is it has at present 65 or so some%. This is not the first ubertanky ad melee build I have seen lately its just the one I choose to example. I go in match after match and see teams with no tank, and a
Xin Zhao or
Tryndamere or a laning
Warwick that are running around with 3k plus hp like there the tank. Sometimes it works sometimes it dosnt but usually it ends up in me taking
Alistar and completely shutting them down while my teams mows through the squishies.
So please summoners lets think when we make team comps, lets think before we just decide to willy nilly through a
Warmog's Armor
Atma's Impaler combo on however we happen to be playing as. Think of your role on the team, what your champions main abilities scales off of, ie: AD, AP, Mana, HP, Armor, MR, ecta. Then what you need for your current situation ie: is enemy heavy AP, AD, Balanced, are they very tanky, are they very squishy, ecta. Then build accordingly. Finally show some love to the tank, he will win the game for you by saving you over and over but you never see it, show some love, save a
Teemo, and win the day. Bring back the TRUE tanks and lets show why the game has them in the first place.

The truth is, in game where one team (Blue) has tank and the another (Purple) doesnt the gameplay looks like this: Blue get hardly pushed till lvl 10-13 (lvl 9 when I play with Rammie, then the tides of battle epicly change) when Blue tank got some cool items and then...then my friends, that freaking armored Hedgehog is so big pain, who can go under turret, pick one of them, drag him out, where he is outdamaged and killed in 1,5 seconds by rest of the Blue team.
Otherwise, great blog post. You have my +rep.
