Some of the highest rated Mobafire builds seem kind of stupid. I understand what they are going for and their build may be the "best" end game build but it makes Caitlyn essentially useless early on.
What I've started doing is going for mana regeneration into spirit stone into Elder Spirit of the Lizard followed by Runaan's Hurricane.
This build order makes up for the gold loss when you sell to replace them with end game items and gets your build in quicker. Also it helps you farm and push lanes in a crazy fashion. Essentially you can destroy minions in mass really quickly and allow your minions to push the enemy champions back to their turrets.
When you sell Lizard you're looking at a loss of only 600 gold. Most games end before you'd sell back Runaan's but honestly I've found it so useful after BOTRK and Bloodthirster that I just keep it.
600 Gold loss is way more than made up from the extra farm and ability to push the enemy team back into their turret to make them lose gold. I usually kill at least 1-3 champions a game with the on hit effect from Elder Lizard that are running where I can't get to them (like ignite kills) and this makes up for it by itself.
What are your thoughts on this?

Not even in AD TF its good enough!!
Only late game :S
this.
seriously. what works at lower levels doesn't work once you go up against better opponents. appreciate your thinking but there is a reason that luther's caitlyn guide is highly regarded so calling it stupid is simply ignorant...and the reason it is ignorant is because you haven't played the game enough yet. keep playing.

Oh wait.
The default keybind for stop is S which I do use occasionally in lane.
It could also be worth playing custom games alone or vs a single bot and keeping track of your cs at intervals so that you can see your improvement over time. I've heard that even some pro players do this for practice on a daily basis.
Once I found out the stopping trick my game improved a lot, cause it will also help not give away your position if your in a bush, and you could always key bind it to another key, or if you have mouse with more buttons. Also the custom bot game drill is a very good to practice last hitting, after trying it a few times I discovered my worst role in the game is ADC, but if you take the time your game and gold flow will improve 100%
in fact I'm surprised you're not seeing them already.
He has a lot more losses than wins which may explain the lack of meta-adhering players being matched with him.
@OP: If you actually want to get better at this game, join the chats "lowelo" and "practice mode". They are two pretty big communities who are keen to help new players, so long as they are willing to learn.
Also if you are just clearing a wave, don't use your AoE skill then try to autoattack. There's this trick of autoattacking the creeps until they're all low health before using your AoE skill to kill all of them, not missing CS in the process. Gauging how much damage you will do is difficult at first but will come with practice.

If you're playing in a lane with other people who are also csing that's kind've a problem because it makes the whole process a ridiculously irritating guessing game. Once you reach level 30 every game should have a support who isn't csing regardless of normal or ranked, in fact I'm surprised you're not seeing them already. Finding a friend who likes to play support could be helpful.
