"You max Rake on Talon. ;) It does more damage, and it's ranged. But if you're against a meelee mid, maxing Q is also viable for lowering the CD, as it becomes possible to harass with Q. I'd still max W though."

As Asian said, brush is core to Rengar's gameplay. The brush on the sides of mid-lane won't reach minions or your enemy. You're literally left with nothing except poking with E until level 6 when...
