You generally do not want to auto attack unless you WANT to push (mid/late game), but when you want to focus on last hitting, walk around until a minions is low enough to kill, and hit it. Simple as that but takes time to execute well. Also practice harassing the enemy when there are no m"

But Galio is still fun to go around with, and is more supporty than Amumu because of his shield + haste.
For that reason I see Galio as a little less effective tank than Amumu, but with a dash of support :x
so if you are looking for a straight up tank, go Amumu/Rammus/Shen.
