Hi I'm Shydon and im diamond V in league. If you know about the lp/mmr bug in D5 then you know how frustrating it is to play. So I took a break for a couple days and I have played very minimal amounts over the last while but I feel like I'm not good and can't improve anymore. I played a couple ranked games and I just played like absolute garbage receiving expected flame and trash talk which I totally understand but its kind of worrying to me that I played bad and I feel like I can never get to where I was before. Even if I play normals I feel like I just bring my teams down all the time even if i don't feed or even die because I just feel so useless. I don't think I will ever get good again so if anyone can try to help me through this I would be very thankful ._.

I heard they were working on a fix for the Diamond V thing, and it it all goes well, the bug will go away before the end of Season V.

Anyway I haven't really played a lot in DiaV but I know how you feel when you say you think you're playing worse than you were some time ago. I have about 500 games played with Thresh and throughout the past 2 or whatever seasons he was my main champion and I felt like I played him extremely well. Nowadays I don't pick him at all because I feel like I play quite badly with him, even though I still get decent scores and I still win with him pretty regularly. I even have some good games with him every so often but the problem is, every time I make the tiniest mistake I tend to feel like I've done something hoooorrible and like I'm a terrible player.

I think this is mostly just down to having so much experience with the champion, that I know what I SHOULD be doing, and when I don't do it or if I fail when trying to, that means that I am not as good as I used to be. This isn't just the case with Thresh, of course, but this is where I personally feel "the change" most strongly. In fact, the feeling needn't be tied to any champion or any role. Perhaps you're just noticing your mistakes more than before because you're more experienced a player than you were back when you feel like you were "good". Perhaps you're just being too hard on yourself now, because you're anxious over not having advanced beyond Diamond V for a (long?) time.

So what I would probably do is one of two things.

1) Take a short break, play other games: It could be a day, two days, a week. Any amount of time away from league would be great. I feel as though I always play better after a long break, because then you start feeling more passionate about it, you start to feel like playing League, and not just in order to advance, but because it's fun. Playing other games will keep you distracted and away from league or league streams.

2) Only play normals, preferably with friends, for fun. Try out new champions or new roles, and slowly move onto what you're more comfortable with - your main role - and then once you've had some satisfying games in your main role, play ranked if you want to.

I think the only way to actually improve your play is to play to improve, and not to win. Playing ranked usually ensures you're going to be playing against better, more higher rated players, than in normals, but ranked has some added pressure because you're not just playing to improve, you're playing to win. Even if you feel like you're only playing to improve and not at all worrying about winning games, you could still subconsciously feel pressure. For this reason I suggest you stick to normals for a little while, and take a break from ranked.

I haven't played in diamond 5 for very long either but I understand what you are saying. I think that I am noticing more and more that I am aware of my mistakes and because of that I am thinking I play bad all the time. I usually am very hard on myself all the time which could be why I am not improving as much as I could. The main reason I feel that I am not improving is because I climbed from plat 5 to diamond 5 mostly filling which usually meant that I played support. I won a lot of support games and I got pretty good at the role but I was usually not a support player unless all the other roles were preferred by my teammates or I had to. Because I played support so much I had the mindset that I was really bad at all the other roles (I played a lot of mid, jungle, and adc to carry me out of bronze, silver, gold, and to get into plat) so support was the only role I "thought" I could play because it was the only role I played for pretty much plat 4 to diamond. I think that is what caused me to refrain or almost to be nervous about playing my favorite roles which means I did not get to practice those roles until later really causing me to lose my confidence in my own play. So I was a support "main" you could say for awhile and I sort of still am I just am not as afraid to play other roles if I have to. I really caused this problem with my own lack of confidence but its really great to have someone else's opinion on my predicament. Thanks a lot :) I will take a break for awhile and stick to normals until I feel that I am ready and have improved enough and gained some confidence back. I know exactly what you mean about one mistake causing you to think you are horrible especially if it caused my adc or one of my teammates lives because of my misplay. Oh btw I played Janna and Nami mostly because I felt like I needed easy to get into supports to win and they became my fav supports lol. My other issue is trying to find main roles again because the roles I used to play for example jungle just don't work for me anymore. I have been leaning towards adc and I am actually a pretty good adc I am just way to hard on myself but that is also a work in progress to stop :P If I can find roles I am competent in and have fun in I think that will also help me vastly in improving my play. I just have so many problems to deal with at the same time sorry ;P But thank you so much for the very intelligent and insightful advice about my problems. It really does help to have someone else's advice who shares sort of the same problems. You are a really cool person and your advice is great as well. I think that eventually your advice and finding main roles and champions will help me get on the right track so I can get my head straight and get back on the grind. I wish you the best of luck with the diamond 5 struggles ;_; and with the rest of your games.

This.

Have fun in normals, it's a game and it's supposed to be fun and if you don't enjoy it atm take some time off (:

Yeah, even if there's someone who went AFK (just report the bish), a toxic player in your team calling you a p*ssy(report them also), a troll (but I love those, only if it's effective), still enjoy the game. League of Legends are made for people to have fun, not having an attitude like "I didn't play games to make friends. I play to win."
Thanks to MissMaw for the sig!

Do you watch replays? If not, I'd advise you to look into using LSI to record replays and rewatch them later. It's usually a lot easier to point out mistakes that way than while you're still playing.
