He is right in different regards though. Ancient Coin is still a mediocre build path (your explanation for coin really makes no sense at all) and eye of the oasis is not any better than talisman of ascension or face of the mountain. Furthermore, even when assuming that splitting runes is not inherently bad, scaling runes are terrible for a support because supports generally have the lowest experience gain of all the 5 roles.

I won't downvote because I have a Thresh guide as well, but I think you should really start from scratch and reconsider the majority of your choices.

I agree with this too, scaling runes on supports are generally a bad idea. I'd much rather run flat stats and try to snowball early than rely on scaling armor/mr which as he says is a bad idea becuase of the nature of the support role.

I agree, you never want to take medallion on thresh. Unless you're expecing to be super mana reliant and going to have to be throwing out spells literally on cd, don't get it relic is almost always a better choice. Also, I would suggest ignite instead of exhausthonestly. So much more kill pressure in lane, and if you actually know what you're doing you don't need the exhaust. Also since this is a beginner guide I'd advise people to not just throw hook whenever somebody's in range, since its so much better to hold it (this is where mobis come in) until you're much closer so its basically a guaranteed skillshot especially when paired with the flay slow. Also if you're going relic, only upgrade to face of the mounttain in certain situations where another shield could be the difference between a won and a lost teamfight. For example if u need somebody to get zhonyas off sometimes that extra second of health can save a fight for you. Bad example but don't just stick to one build. Lastly just play a lot until you know skill ranges like ezreal's arcane shift, so you can start to predict twhere people are going to dodge to. I know this is a beginner guide but still very useful. Besides that I'd say this is a pretty well done guide. This is just my opinion though and things might be different in lower elos than in master/high diamond. To each therir own.

As Vynertje very kindly pointed out, the build does contain a sightstone. You can also build coin, it's useful, and I explain why if you'd care to read the guide, rather than just look at the build path. Mixing runes is not always bad. You don't need all of the stats early, some you need a bit later. I would go in depth on why I chose the runes, but you just have to trust me. You get just enough poke and defence from your reds, and just the right scaling defence and base defence from the yellows. Win win.

May be good to realize that eye of the oasis is actually sightstone

well thanks for the guide, though I enjoy building face of the mountain more. The downside is that I need to sell sightstone at late game haha

Ok so i like that this build suggests medallion over relic shield, but thresh is a champion that can just dump on the enemy bot lane if he can get into position and in my opinion it would be better to take movement speed quints, armor marks, and scaling mr glyphs, and then taking medallion and finishing off talisman to get that speed buff to either save your ally, roam around faster, or make a pick, and then just upgrade to ruby sight stone

You raise a very interesting point here, and I'll be sure to give it a go! I'm not sure if I'd take speed runes in any form, and I like a little bit of damage with my Thresh, but I used to go early boots on Thresh as one of the best things for him is speed. I might suggest going for Mobi boots instead, and just playing a safer early game, as I'm not a fan of the high risk plays on Thresh. I believe he should be played to punish mistakes rather than create them. Thanks for the feedback!
