Just try to get to know her, getting used to her mechanic in customs and then play a few matches with her, read guides. But if you really want to main her, I suggest learning to cancel the animation of her skills, but also the Q AA combo, in witch you cancel Q's animation and then AA, then do it again. You should watch this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAjXN99Qg_Y (this one is really short, but he has an other that is longer).

Hey all,

I tried 5 games of Riven in PvP (avoided bot games for credibility this time :D) and it's been going pretty well for me.

I felt that while I did well in the laning stage, I couldn't pull my weight in full on 5v5 fights. Is there something that I'm missing or is this just the champ?

I've been going Yosomuu Ghostblade (pardon my spelling) into Ionian Boots of Lucidity, then Ravenous Hydra and Black Cleaver.

This is where I need to ask you guys a question: Do I go Blood Thirster, or GA, or something else entirely?

Thanks all,
TheSofa

I myself prefer to go
warhammer>brown boots>hydra>ghostblade/lucidity>luciduty/ghostblade (boots can be ninja or merc too and sometimes switch during)

and the other 3 items depend on who is a big problem, tankiness enemy team,

for pen I like one of the last whispers or cleaver (depending on tankiness more tanks the sooner I like LW over cleaver). which item depends on enemy builds and unless someone is a problem I get this one as 4th

for defensives we have Mercurial Scimitar (cc), Maw of Malmortius (against light ap teams), Banshee's Veil (agaisnt heavy ap teams) , Dead Man's Plate (agaisnt heavy ad) or GA (this item if no one is a problem and usely as last)

another LS item:
deaths dance or Bloodthirster

however I haven't played riven much so probably other items are better

I've run two different sets of masteries on Riven, one 18-12 with Fervor, and one 12-18 with Thunderlords Decree which is a little more successful (and you can take half the other top laners health away at lvl 1 for an easy first blood)

Basically MOBAFire.

I'd say team fighting is actually Riven's biggest weakness, you have to find a good time to dive the backline or peel for your carries. Wait for them to put all their CC on cooldown before going in, or you won't get anything done.

With Riven you really just need to find opportunities when enemies are grouped to flash in for a lot of aoe damage with Q W R and Hydra, or be able to melt enemy carries via flanks or flashing in.

A lot of people underestimate Thunderlord's Decree if you ask me. I even use it on certain mages that would normally go death fire. since most games are so short it can be a lot stronger (and pretty much guarantees you winning the lane if you can proc it quickly)
