it's perfectly possible to carry as an adc.

Winning lane, and then winning game, is probably the easiest thing in the world to do as an ADC.

You are team reliant, but half the time no one picks zed or knows how to play him anyways.

anyways there's nothing really i can say that hasn't been said, but picking jungle > mid and maining mid as a 2ndary works pretty well especially since i find mid/bot/top are the most contested picks and you'll likely get jungle more.

It's not harder to carry as ADC rofl

You should be able to feel when you're getting good at a champion. You'll perform consistently (this doesn't necessarily mean get good scores) and most decisions or things you do will become second nature and you won't even need to think about them as you do them. For example as Malphite you'll instantly ult or flash ult if you see an opportunity instead of hesitating. Can be different in team play.

Okay, sitting back and taking it all in.

I've got some things I want to work as listed in the beginning post.

I'm going to actually keep my champion pool narrower as advised by everyone here.

Jungle Primary:

Shyvana bruiser
Volibear tank
Fizz assassin (only normals so far but I've sort of fell in love with the little murderous guy).

Mid Secondary: the mid pool I'm less sure about so this list is tentative

Morgana - good pick potential, reasonably safe farming with Tormented Shadow and Black Shield.
Vel'Koz - going to have to brush up on his game as a Mid laner as I've primarily played him as support. A titch hesitant on this pick as he is up for somewhat of a rework that sounds like it might impact his wave clear, because you know we wouldn't want an immobile mage to have good wave clear....looks askance at Zed and Talon.

Since the the start of this conversation, I've put three in the win column. They were all stomps, so we'll see how things go when it comes down to the wire, but it has felt better knowing what I am going to pick as to opposed to asking myself what counters this or that and by dent of knowing who I'm picking knowing who to ban or ask to be banned.

I'll try to get about 25 ranked games under my belt and then review my stats to see how I'm doing.

Thanks to all of you for your feedback! :-)

If you're willing to put Fizz in your jungle pool you might as well play him mid :P

For me, the champions I'm good with are either practiced a lot or I have some affinity with them. By affinity, I mean the way the champion plays (their power spikes, abilities, win conditions) feel natural to me and I can more easily identify what I need to do in different situations and how I can improve.

By contrast, champions I have little affinity with would be something like Vladimir for me. He just feels like a stat-check champion to me and I don't really know how to carry games with him. It just doesn't make as much sense as someone like Malphite or Renekton to me.

Usually success is a good indicator of affinity, but you should be able to tell whether you like a champion just by playing a few games of them imo. It can be in normals or whatever.

Also worth noting is you can become good at a champion that you suck at at first. My main last season was Rek'Sai and I lost my first 5 games I ever played as her (while she was OP). It took me a little while to figure out how to manage my tunnel cooldowns and ultimate mostly.

I put mid as your secondary since you mentioned you felt more comfortable there than top. It's also a fairly contested role (unlike support) so you'll still get jungle fairly often.

Ugh, Vladimir. I've tried to figure out that champion and I just don't get him even after figuring out that you heal more from Transfusion after using Tides of Blood.

Ekko is one champion that I've played a number of games with and I'm still not quite sure if I like him/he suits my playstyle or not.

Some champions seem to become easier to play the more you know about the game. E.g. I couldn't stand playing melee champions when I first started, but once you know what all the other champion do (e.g., have an idea of the distance their spells travel and their cool downs)), melee gets much easier.

Yeah, it's a good idea that you should make Fizz go to mid lane also. It's good if you have a champion who can do two or more roles or flexipick, if that's what they call it (e.g. Kayle can do all of the roles).
Thanks to jhoijhoi for the sig! (Tekken!)

Point. XD

His early lane is so painful against anyone ranged though. But you are right. Added. :P :-)

Morgana is a very safe mid pick, and you can dumpster on bronze and silvers quite easily, but I find her a little harder to carry with than Talon, Zed, Annie, Liss because her cooldowns are so high and she really only has 1 main damage spell so she does require a somewhat aggressive team or them to be grouped up and willing to go in when you catch them with bindings.
