I was just curious if the build has changed at all since the mage update or it is exactly the same

I always use cunning tree.

whilst it is true that ferocity's DFT beats TLD in damage. Cunning gives me other usefull stuff.

Like runic affinity for when i pick smite.
Or the bandit mastery which gives more gold for everything killed by pets like zzrot, banner, and turrets.

And i also like meditate

Gives me the option of 45% cdr or extra pen for strong early auto's and betetr midgame turrets.

and tld is still good for poke

made some updates:
-mostly explicative screenshot in Science FAQ ( 1 update and 1 new)
-a special new support build for ''META'nautes" (so if you don't care "meta" [like me and don't make difference in any stade of ''game''] just follow others builds and the situation of the game ;) )

Then remember with my guide: the runes AND masteries build AND lvl 2 trick give you the hp regeneration AND gold advantage! SO play safe, poke, auto-attack and keep your exhaust if you go far away your turrets to easy win, gently, slowly and make them RAGEBBQ!

I am very surprise (i mean pleasantly surprise :) ) to see so many comment in a month!
And i am proud to thank Scorrpo, blakethecat and khrispants because you guys/lads have truly understand my build. result's screenshots nearly tear a tear from me (tear of joy) ! so by my answer you will recognize yourself and i will answer to HeimerOP who seem to be a little disagree of our playstyle.

First of all, i thank you to honor me by a critique and, moreover, by a suggest. It's truly appreciate because i can speak about it. I will try to answer methodically to all your suggests:

Take out context ''not really optimal", that's a point so confusing me. What are you calling "optimal" in this way ? What is a Optimal Heimerdinger ? Don't i propose in my guide an Optimal Heimerdinger (like very huge maximum regen without item to do Ap's itemization) ?

And now, i will re-contextualize your ''not really optimal". You said this because:
"the biggest problem for heimer is to get ganked early on when you push too far out"

especially on top lane if i follow you correctly ^^. First, I can't disagree this, because it's a true that Heimer haven't a great pool of hp and hasn't 50 armor at start so that make him a target. But this is not the problem of every champion, i mean, to be ganked when you haven't spell to escape ?

After all, in a second point of view, my heimerdinger is not like every other heimerdinger, i mean, like other AP's champions that spend all in AP, even on runes.

My heimerdinger is tanky and he does deal damage (not enough to burst kill, but enough to killing slowly and gently or force to back an ennemy on fountain ). And with a good placement of turrets, a gank on yourself became dangerous for opponents. I think you must consider my heimerdinger playstyle like a Mundo with spells. Mundo goes where he want (not because HP pool, but because Regen insane that let him stay and grow on lane, taking lvl advantage!). My heimerdinger just do one thing finally: weaker the opponent by gradually take his life. Because, by my guide, you have the argues for: a insane regen + a boost of AD (by runes) + a boost of AP ( by runes and Items ).

Then, your second supposition is : "All your guide does is to promote weak runes, masteries and item choices that are simply bad in almost all games."
THAT is maybe the most cruel lol.
Not only cruel for me, but for others who have sympatized with this guide. And i am proud to see that my guide works for me as for them ( Scorrpo, blakethecat and khrispants ).
Considering all the discussion channel, and the facts of : insane regen (better than mundo ) without item that let you spend all of your gold into AP items; i can't just believe you said my heimerdinger is ''simply bad in almost all games". I think just for that you deserve a medal of self-deception. Don't be offenced, but i am a ranked player too (on eu west). I thank you to regonize you can have fun, at least, with my guide ^^ but i truly said to you: it's work too for ranking! And i must said a thing: having fun and ranking are compatible!
And i am forced to say why i created this guide, this monster of joy lol.
I questionning myself about league of legend and, especially, about "Meta" a very disgusting thing. Meta seem to force you to do "full of something" especially in RANKED: you want to be support ? do warding and aoe item. you want to be mid ? do full AP or full AD for killing. you want to be top ? do HP pool's item and resist. And after, that, i realize my favorite champion, heimerdinger, was so absurd to this idea of META. And i questionning myself about can we gaming (have fun my definition of game) and be serious competitor (like ranking's game induce in your mind). answer is: YES! Heimerdinger with my guide is the TRUE WARRIOR of league of legend. With my guide you do all:
-Your HP cannot be beaten easily and you don't need potions!
-your spell do damage (not outrageous but they do: you have, at least, 17 ap lvl 2 [Spellthief's edge] + [mastery keystone doing damage overtime everytime])
-your Auto attack do damage (not outrageous but recognize that: 64 at lvl 2 without item is not bad! [and bonus damage with Spellthief's edge])
-you can buy wards instead of potions ; that make you a greater teamspirit!
-you are stronger (stay longer) than other Ap champ that make a difference in teamfight. Moreover, in team regrouping and teamfight, you provide your passive.

Then, I want to said thank you all, don't let you absorb by META, especially in ranked! You can play heimerdinger, you can have fun to play with him as you can win game easily! Because my guide provide you DOMINATION! be aware, be safe, be regen and ap :p

I have to say that your guide is not really optimal. For once, the biggest problem for heimer is to get ganked early on when you push too far out, especially if you play him top. You dont need health regen runes because you will easily outsustain anyone in most matchups, the problem comes from all ins and ganks, and your build makes heimer's biggest problem even worse.
Also, you forget the 2 best items on heimer right now, which are Rod of ages and Abyssal scepter (for ap matchups of course).

With your base regen plus catalyst there is no reason to waste runes on more regen.
Your masteries are also not good, since heimer really benefits from thunderlord's degree.

All your guide does is to promote weak runes, masteries and item choices that are simply bad in almost all games.

Instead, do this:

Standard ap runespage vs most matchups, scaling health seals vs AP laners that dont trade with auto attacks and AP junglers.

Dorans plus 2 pots, rush RoA if you need hp or get morellos/abyssal.
The rest is really up to the matchup, but Rylais and Zhonya's are always good

I have had some fun with this build in fun games, but its useless other than that.

I'm glad to see an appreciation then i thank you ^^ and yes we need to have some fun while playing ( mainly when the game appears to impose to play seriously because a meta by ''e-sport'players''.
Above all, i decided to do this heimerdinger guide to show that: you can be a strong AP and be solide to stay in line and in fight by a strong REGEN (better than mundo lol ) , then be a really comfortable & viable champion (even if nobody play heimer, or just play him as a "ONLY AP OR DIE" ^^)
so i thank to you to give credit to my heimer's way of life and i still encourage you (and the reader of our discussion) to play heimerdinger ( if possible like i had exposed ^^ ) ! power of science & relax regeneration = the champion of fun & good game
